“Great pub in friendly village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Typical english village pub - great local beer, simple but good food - Fridays are "piedays" - Tom's homemade pies are great - more meat than you expect for the price. Dogs welcome and even the locals are friendly. Only 3 rooms but comfy beds and huge breakfast in the morning. Will be back.

Room Tip: Room 1 is not over the bar so quieter if you want an early night.

We stayed one night as we were going to a charity motorbike event close by. Bikes were left overnight in the pub car park. We sat in the beer garden in the sun with a glass of very nice wine. Our room was small with en suite shower. Bed very comfortable and we slept well. Lovely filling breakfast. Tom made us very welcome. Would definitely go back

Stayed at the Cross Keys on 19.10.12.
Received a warm welcome from Tom the owner, shown to a cosy room with en-suite and the whitest, crispest duvel cover you could wish for. That night we ate at the Inn and Friday night was 'Pie night' for the locals and it was packed, for a choice of 5 home made Pies with chips and vegatables. The steak and ale pie we both had was meaty and delicious, followed by sticky toffee pudding a Yorkshire (and Lancashire) speciallity not to be missed. The meal for 2 including a bottle of gran reserva Rioja came to £36. Excellent.
The evening was spent in friendly local company.
That night we had a good nights sleep in a bed that was as comfortable as it was clean. (No traffic noise)
Next morning we had a filling full English breakfast, from local quality ingredients. The Cross keys only has 3 bedrooms, with the result that you are well looked after. For the Inn type of accomodation it gets 10 / 10 and is worth seeking out. (£65 B and B)

Room Tip: Only 3 all good.

A simple, traditional inn with just 3 rooms - but very comfortable lodgings. Unpretentious, but good value for money and a friendly clientele and staff. Excellent breakfast and good, very reasonably priced bar food. Very homely and informal.
