“Hotel Quality - B&B Welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Me and my wife stayed here on our anniversary trip to the area. We were only at Riverwood for one night but were thoroughly impressed with the standard of accommodation, the food and the welcome. The room was the larger double which was immaculate, like the rest of the property, and tastefully decorated in neutral and modern tones. The whole property is newly furnished and decorated to a hotel quality standard. Our room had flat screen TV, an amazing walk in shower, built in storage along an entire wall and high quality furnishings. However, the owners provided far more than the usual hotel welcome and were extremely warm, professional, and also had a great sense of humor. Complimentary afternoon tea was lovely (see photo), and made at Riverwood, and the breakfast was superb.

I would recommend Riverwood above hotel accommodation in the area for those that are looking for high quality accommodation, and would suggest that you'll also get a B&B welcome second to none. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Riverwood again. You won't be dissapointed!

Brilliant - enough said. Don't go to Pitlochry - come here to the conservation village of Strathtay, and experience much much much more than the average B&B. Complementary afternoon tea a great touch.

Room Tip: The Auchanross Suite is huge!

Stayed here for 3 nights and what an amazing place to stay! We were in the tulliepowrie suite which was stunning, huge room with entrance hall and the most amazing bathroom! Our own patio area outside double doors from our room where we could watch the squirrels at play. Breakfast was absolutely first class, tried cooked breakfast and pancakes both fab and my other half loved the potato rosti, worth going back just for that. Hosts Ann & Alf were so friendly too, there is nothing we can fault. For a stay in stunning surroundings and luxurious accommodation, Riverwood is a must!

Room Tip: Tulliepowrie suite was amazing. Separate entrance so very private, beautiful room and bathroom

What can I say about Riverwood that's not already been said. This place is absolutely fantastic and every bit as good if not better than the previous reviews. The location is absolutely stunning and the accommodation is better than any five star hotel I have stayed in. The food that Ann produces is as good as I have ever tasted and Alf is just the perfect host. You really must try this place to understand just how good it is. Thanks again Ann and Alf for an absolutely brilliant birthday/anniversary weekend, we will definitely be back!

We've been to 7 different B&Bs during our stay in Scotland, and some of them were great.
But this one surprised us so much, we couldn't imagine that we will stay in such a place.
The house is amazing. The rooms are huge, clean and very well-designed.
The room and the dining room have a view to the nearby stream, and when you eat your delicious breakfast you feel so peaceful and calm...
The hosts are nice, and the price decent.
EXCELLENT is not enough for this B&B, that's for sure.
HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Riverwood is an absolute gem! We stayed at one of the suites and finishing touches to the suite and entire house are just exquisite. It is set in an absolute tranquil setting beside the river with squirrels and hedgehogs running around the garden. There is excellent variety to the breakfast... the bacon rosti and gorgeous pancakes offering a great alternative to the traditional Scottish breakfast. Alf, the owner was particularly welcoming and the smell of freshly baked cookies greeting our arrival added a great homely touch!

This is a follow up report on our initial visit, when Riverwood first opened for business earlier this year, having been one of the first 2 customers. Once again my wife and I booked for a 2 nights B+B with dinner, on one of the evenings (Sept 22and23). I am not going to be long winded about this wonderful establishment, because its reputation now preceeds it. I think all the superlatives have been previously stated, simply put, just book and sample it for yourself, you will not be disappointed, especially with mine hosts, Ann and Alf......
