We just came back from the Degray lake resort. Its a beautiful place. The location of the lodge is very pretty, the service and promt and polite. Everyone is very friendly.
We had a very good and relaxing stay. We did not get a Lake view room when we arrrived on the Thanksgiving day. The lodge was 100% booked. However the next morning when we requested the front desk we did get to move to a lake view room. ( we had to check out and check back again, but that was ok with us). The facility is well kept, the lobby is great to sit around with a beautiful stone fireplace and the lake view thru' the all glass windows...
There were evening entertainments, like a blue grass concert and squares dances in the convention center, all free. This really helped as we were with 2 kids and it got really cold, and we could not do much ouside.
The rooms are however small in size and could do a little better with some upgrading. The carpet in the room was not all that clean, the coffee maker pretty much outdated and falling apart. The bed linens were very clean but looked very old. The bathrooms are extremely small and the towels were terrible with fluffs coming out and tears here and there. The toilet bowl did not have a cover lid, wheich did not help at all since there is almost no moving space in the bathroom. I kept feeling that I will drop things in the toilet bowl.
Nothing much can be done with the size of the rooms, but with a little better qualtiy in the above mentioned things would really raise this facility to a true resort quality. In such a pretty place it does not feel good compromising on the little things.
Everything else was excellent and we did have a beautiful stay and yes we would go back there again.
