“Great Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012

We spent a wonderful night in late April at this historic home. Arriving early in the afternoon we were able to walk the beautiful grounds of the Crystal Bridges Art Museum , followed by an easy stroll to the square for dinner and then slept likg royalty in comfortable suite. Breakfast was delicous and quite filling ! We will be back!

We have stayed in a lot of B&B's the past few years around the midwest. We stayed here Saturday night 5/12/12. This was our first time in Bentonville. WOW, This B&B(The Laughlin House) was VERY NICE. Put this one on your 'must stay here list' if you plan to do a B&B in Bentonville!! You'll love it. Perfect location, an easy short walk to the main square in town. The house is beautiful, rooms are big, beds very comfortable, the decor is gorgeous and the whole house was impeccably clean. Of course, the breakfast was awesome too. Owners Don and Jenny were wonderful host. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. Steve and Lynn - Lenexa Kansas.

We spent two days here at this beautiful and historic home. The rooms are really beautifully furnished and the owners couldn't be more friendly and gracious. It is close to everything - walk to the Crystal Bridges Art Museum or downtown to excellent restaurants. Breakfast here is outstanding and plentiful. Highly recommended.

Laughlin House Bed and Breakfast is a charming find in Bentonville, Arkansas, and it’s located just three blocks from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and two blocks from The Square with its shops and variety of fine restaurants. The outside of this dark gray corner-lot home exudes 19th century detail. Inside, Jenny and Don Wallace have renovated the first floor into three bedrooms, each with its own bath, while maintaining many of this 1891 Victorian’s authentic features or using faux ones. Jenny’s many antique furnishings naturally compliment the spacious bedrooms, two of which include attached sitting rooms and in-room baths (one with an authentic claw-footed tub). The comfortable third room is dominated by a queen bed with draping maroon and gold fabric criss-crossed between the tops of the sturdy bed posts. The small private bath for this room is located two steps across the hall. The armoire’s flat screen television has excellent picture quality.
Don and Jenny offer just about any amenity you can imagine. Chocolate truffles and bottled water await bedside. Robes hang in the closet. The dining room offers a 24/7 selection of coffees, teas and cocoa via a Keurig machine. Despite their popularity, Don manages to keep a plate with his yummy chocolate chip cookies from becoming depleted. A bowl filled with various candies mysteriously manages to remain filled as well. Off the dining room is a large sitting room with comfy oversized leather chairs and shelving containing books and a large assortment of DVDs. We took Don and Jenny’s suggestions on the DVDs and enjoyed several movies during our two-night stay. Besides having ample menus and restaurant suggestions, Don and Jenny supply bike maps, Bentonville maps, and tourist information.
Now for the piece de resistance: those original gourmet breakfasts courtesy of Chef Don. The first morning he made what he called a hash—such a lowly description for such a succulent dish! I’m not sure of all the ingredients, but the sweet potato chunks, shredded ham and spices topped with a fried egg (runny) combined for a delicious meal. The next morning we dined on a special kind of homemade waffle topped with shredded ham and a perfectly matched Dijon white sauce, accompanied by a spicy homemade sausage patty. Juice, fresh fruits and coffee or tea were served.
Of course, the key ingredient to a memorable bed and breakfast experience is the people. Jenny and Don are a thirty-something couple who planned on operating a bed and breakfast when they retired, but then Laughlin House became available. They’re living their dream—and loving it—which makes their guests’ experience simply wonderful. When we arrived, Don and Jenny offered us wine or beer as if we were family who had just dropped in. We seemed to be continually asking for directions and recommendations, and they seemed to—continually—enjoy supplying both. Either Jenny or Don is always available and has time to chat. They seem totally relaxed, enjoying people and sharing their home with them. They’ll make you feel like you have relatives in Bentonville.

The best word to describe the Laughlin House is ‘charming’. It has a great location just off the square with comfortable and cozy accommodations. We were well taken care of and breakfast was delicious! The hosts are gracious and hospitable. A great ‘non-hotel’ option for your stay in Bentonville!

We spent two wonderful evenings with our host Jenny and Don. The suite was charming and extremely roomy. The decor was perfect, the breakfasts were gourmet, and simply delicious. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the new Crystal Bridges Museum, and the Town Square. We highly recommend the Laughlin House!

The Laughlin House has all the things a good B&B should have and more. The two front rooms have very nice sitting rooms, flat screen tvs, delicious breakfasts and very nice hosts. It is only a block from the town square and a enjoyable walk (if the weather permits) to Crystal Bridges. We really enjoyed our stay.
