Until recently, there were only a couple of hotels in Yuma, and LaFuente and Shiloh Inn were the selections when it came to an upgraded hotel. While there are many new hotels in the area, LaFuente continues to draw my business; the staff is personable, the property is well kept, and the breakfast and happy hour (included in the price of the room) can't be beat.
Summer in Yuma is brutal, however the poolside cabanas keep the sun at bay and the well-established central courtyard is nicely maintained. Recommend booking a first-floor suite with a living-room area, large bedroom, and easy access to your vehicle, pool, and main lobby area.
While it seems a reviewer had difficulty with the front staff, with each visit I've found them to be more than helpful. The other hotel guests are friendly and the gentleman that maintains the pool area takes pride in his work.
The only caution I would offer is to travelers that aren't enamored with multi-family groups with lots of children. Maybe it stems from my earlier years as a lifeguard; the multi-family multi-children soirees can take over the area. I wished I had a whistle to call "adult swim" to clear the pool for just five minutes of all floaty-devices and toys, if just not for a moment or two before the pool closed in the evening.
Take breakfast and coffee, sit poolside, before the Yuma heat sets it, and it's a peaceful way to start the day.
Easy access on/off I-8 and close to the mall, La Fuente is not another chain hotel, rather a classic hidden gem in Yuma.
I will return to LaFuente and recommend it to others.
