After stopping in Winslow on my way to the Grand Canyon, I thought I would stop on the way back and spend a day. I stopped at the Days Inn because I had always had a good experience with the chain. The lady at was reading a magazine and didn't look up for at least 2 minutes to acknowledge i was even there. When I got to the room, there were signs everywhere of what NOT to do. Don't take ice, even the pillows (that were paper thin) had "property of Days Inn Winslow" written in magic marker on them. you could read this through the pillow case, which was threadbare. When i went to check out in the morning, a different lady was at the desk. The "continental breakfast" was kept behind the desk so you couldn't help yourself. i carry my own tea bags with me and make a cup of tea to go. when i asked for a cup of hot water, i was informed that it was only to be consumed here, and she didn't have time to fill my cup. On my out of town i stopped at the convenience store to buy a cup of water. I got my water and stood in line to pay. when I got to the cashier she waved me on, as in "forget it, its free". I explained what had happened at the Days Inn, and she said " oh yea, those people are terrible"
I was so mad about the Days Inn that I left Winslow without getting to look around, shop or anything.
