After stopping in Winslow on my way to the Grand Canyon, I thought I would stop on the way back and spend a day. I stopped at the Days Inn because I had always had a good experience with the chain. The lady at was reading a magazine and didn't look up for at least 2 minutes to acknowledge i was even there. When I got to the room, there were signs everywhere of what NOT to do. Don't take ice, even the pillows (that were paper thin) had "property of Days Inn Winslow" written in magic marker on them. you could read this through the pillow case, which was threadbare. When i went to check out in the morning, a different lady was at the desk. The "continental breakfast" was kept behind the desk so you couldn't help yourself. i carry my own tea bags with me and make a cup of tea to go. when i asked for a cup of hot water, i was informed that it was only to be consumed here, and she didn't have time to fill my cup. On my out of town i stopped at the convenience store to buy a cup of water. I got my water and stood in line to pay. when I got to the cashier she waved me on, as in "forget it, its free". I explained what had happened at the Days Inn, and she said " oh yea, those people are terrible"
I was so mad about the Days Inn that I left Winslow without getting to look around, shop or anything.

AVOID THIS HOTEL - These people are like spiders waiting to catch weary interstate travelors in thier web of angry service, disgusting rooms, all at over priced rates.

I stayed there in July after traveling all day only to get a $91 dollar room that was over 90 degrees inside of it. Seriously we checked in at 10:30p and couldn't fall asleep until after 1am becasue the room was so hot and the AC couldn't cool it down fast enough.

When I complained I got into a shouting match with VJ the worst inn keeper since biblical times. Seriously I've never felt so bent over - ever in my life. If this hotel was in any town or city larger than Winslow AZ it would go out of business due to people having an actual choice.

“Worst Customer Service Ever”

Days Inn Winslow

Jan 2, 2008

Well, my wife and I never actually stayed! After a long, long drive from Texas, we arrived at 10 PM here having booked on-line a few days prior. They had us booked in a room with two queen beds, and seeing as that there was a long line behind me, I figured maybe someone will need the two beds - I only needed one. After asking for a downgrade to ONE bed, the manager got upset with me and told me "I have no room for you! Get out of my hotel room!". I told him he was being unfair and demanded my room, but he said he'd call the cops. The rest of the people in line told him they didnt want to give him business so we went across the street to the Super 8 where we had nice service with a smile. So, I didn't actually stay, but the lady at the Super 8 says she gets people from the Days Inn all the time because the manager makes them feel unwelcome. It was ridiculous.

I was not even allowed to check into this hotel by what appeared to be the hotel manager. I am a professional, local Native American anthropologist and was treated with rudeness and hostility at this business. The employee here blamed me for a mistake of the reservations operator (TripRewards) when I declared my two children and infant as part of my two adult party. He states he cannot find the paper copy of my reservation in a pile in front of him and points to the computer screen showing a zero for children. I asked politely during the encounter if he still wanted my business and he (twice) tosses my ID and credit card back at me across the counter. I decide not to waste energy on arguing with this business owner and walk out the door to spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

If you visit the American Southwest please do not support this business who promote the Native American culture and treat us in this awful manner.

Rooms were marginally clean, but quiet (this is a hotel, not a motel which is significant as it's yards from the freeway). Wifi reception was poor to middlin'. The free breakfast was disgusting and incomplete. In-house restaurant was just ok. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi if you want to relax or exercise. Bright spot is the staff who are friendly and helpful. There are several fast food places and two grocery stores in walking distance with a small fridge and microwave in room. Also a superwalmart nearby for anything you've forgotten on your trip.

On my last trip, there were signs of prior vandalism to vehicles on the freeway side of the hotel so watch where you park.
