We are so happy we heard about the Rock Art Canyon Ranch just before our trip to Winslow and Mounument Valley. We have travelled throughout Arizona, Utah and New Mexico and this is, by far, the best petroglyphs we have ever seen. The owner, Mr. Baird, will escort you to the canyon on a somewhat rugged road from his ranch/museum. You should be aware that to really see the petroglyphs, you need to go down around 14 rock and metal stairs which are pretty steep although there is a handrail most of the way. Once you are down into the canyon, it is pretty easy to navigate along the river to view these amazing petroglyphs. Make sure you leave time to explore the kiva, sweat house and the ranch/museum which has a very interesting collection of old farm artifacts. If we used the driving directions we got from Mapquest we probably never would have found the ranch so be sure to call Mr. Baird for directions. He's a delightful guy.
