Our kids were in heaven when we stayed at the Canyon Motel. We stayed in one of the railroad car rooms. It had a queen size bed and a futon. A coffee maker & refrigerator were also in the room. A curtain separated the bathroom area from the sleeping area, just like a true railroad experience. The room was smaller than some we've stayed in, but it was very clean. The fact it was in a railcar made up for the size limitation. There are also larger rooms available in 2 cabooses on the property. My in-laws stayed in one of the cottage rooms, and found it to be a quaint getaway. The indoor pool provided a place to cool off after a long day at the Grand Canyon. The managers treated us like we were at a bed and breakfast with plenty of personal attention. I would recommend at least one night at the Canyon Motel if you have kids, simply for the railroad car experience.

My husband and I just returned from a weeks vacation in Williams, Arizona. While in Williams we visited the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Planes of Fame, and Lowell Observitory in Flagstaff. These are just a few of the places we visited. It was wonderful every night to return to the Canyon Motel. We were lucky enough to reserve a room in the Railcar. It was wonderful. The owners are warm and welcoming and their staff is very pleasent. I loved just lazing around in the evening listening to the trains go by and that includes the Grand Canyon Railroad. We plan on returning to Williams and we WILL certainly be staying in the Canyon Motel! Thank you Kevin and Shirley for a week we will never forget!

We loved this place and the people running it. When you first find the place don't judge it by the outside appearance. This isn't a Holiday Inn and that's a good thing.

After reading the reviews, I thought we would give this place a try (2 families traveling together) The were in Railroad car # 3, we got Caboose #1 (their ony disapointment the whole trip was that the other caboose was allready booked at time of resavation, but they loved their room and said it was large, clean and comfortable and still very unique to stay in a train).

We arrived about 3:00 and the owners were very informative, after touring our rooms (the kids 3,4,5, and 6 were going nuts by this time with excitment and keept going back and forth to the rooms) we took a swim in the indoor pool for an hour (a little chilly water, but the kids got right in and and it took me about 5 minutes) The pool area and pool were clean and lots of fun. After a quick tour of town and trip to local safeway, we had a BBQ (also very clean modern gas grills and even the supplied tools were spotless). We felt safe with the kids going back and forth to the rooms and the swing sets. We ended the evening making smores around the firepit, and We saved $$ by not going out to dinner and instead had 3 hours of old fashioned fun weth the kids outside. I have stayed at some of the finest hotels in the world and eaten at some finest resaurants, and you can not even pay $$$$$$$ for the experience of watching the children enjoing them selves like our visit there . The children look past all the nity -grity and all they see is that we are sleeping in a train and the family time of a cookout and running around with their glow-sticks (I am glad I got some to bring before the trip) and I enjoyed a relaxing time with them.

The negitives.
-as I was driving in for the first time, although it looked like the web pictures, appearances were not the resort I pictured it in my mind, Looked a little byit shabby from the road, till you actually drive in. but once there this negative went away

-this is not a 5 star hotel, so the rooms do show some age. (at lease ours did, but so what it was clean and different.

-My son was so exited about sleeping in a caboose, he was up most of the night

Oh by the way, the shower in our caboose suprised us, from it looks , you almost expect it to have little pressure and very little hot water, But the hot water came on right away, and the preassure was better then my home, and we all took extra long showers because it felt so nice

We stayed in this motel on 5/28 and found the overall is just OK. The interior of the rooms is kind of out-dated and really needs some improvements. The bathroom is small and should be updated in my opinion.

The owner of the motel is very nice and helpful and you should be able to find that they have put a lot of efforts to renovate the exterior of the motel. Some outside settings are pretty cute and neat.

If all the improvements inside the rooms could be done, I believe this would be a wonderful place to stay with.
