My family and I stopped in Williams for the night, not sure if we would find a place to stay being that it was the Thanksgiving Holiday. We always like trying new places, and when we saw this place we knew we had to stay. Canyon Motel had small cottages and Antique Railroad Cars which have been transformed into little quarters. The enviroment was like it was back in the days, and we enjoyed it . I would reccomend this experience to anyone, and you are only 45 miles from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Oh ya if you have never seen a Christmas Tree lighting in a cute little town thats the place to be. They also have an outside Ice Skating Rink for young & old to play on

I can't say enough nice things about the canyon motel. I did not get to stay in one of the railcars, but I did stay in one of the rooms of the historic motel. The room was clean and comfortable, had a fridge and a separate sink and counter space outside the bathroom. I arrived late -- about 1 1/2 hours after the office usually closes--and the owner waited for me! She was incredibly friendly, and even gave me a gift bag full of goodies, and some local tourist magazines which gave me some great ideas for the following day (be sure you drive to the top of Bill Williams Mountain for a great view!).

If I had to complain about anything, I'd say that the shower is too small (i couldn't bend over and touch my toes without bumping into the walls). Not a big deal.

This is a small independent that's doing everything right. They deserve your business, and they'll get mine again the next time I'm in town.

  • Liked — Price, cleanliness, friendly staff
  • Disliked — small shower

We stayed in caboose#1..had a great time. My 5 year old son and 3 yr old daughter love it. The caboose was clean, comfortable, but was a little lacking in space. It's pretty crowded with 3 adaults and 2 kids with very litlle space for luggage or jackets. The bathroom was was tiny. However, the uniqueness of it made up for it all. The staff was very friendly and made great suggestions to local eatery. Will definitely stay there again when we return..

This is a sweet li'l railroad themed spot on the east end of town. Talk about quiet...& the stars at night are amazing. I pulled in 1 evening, a weary Route 66 traveler. Shirley, a very cheery young woman, stepped outside to greet me (nice touch). Comforting to this tired soul, she gave me a sense of calm as the dust of the road settled around my feet. After washin' the Route off, I went into town to a restaurant in an 1860 building that Shirley had suggested (& gave a discount Qpon for). The girl knows what she's talkin' 'bout. And, for breakfast, ask her where to find the best biscuits & gravy EVER!!! Williams is a trip back in time & where better to see how far back then in the cemetery (beautiful & peaceful). The motel offers a semi-sorta circle of cottages & a choice of 3 train cars to sleep in. Landscape is rustic with the Route & railroad in mind. This is definitely a place I'll return to on my next Rte 66 trip. Maybe this time I'll stay in a caboose : )
Thanks for makin' me feel welcome. See ya again, Penny B

This is simply one of the coolest, most memorable hotels I've ever been to. My 4-year old boys couldn't believe their luck when we pulled up to the room which was set up in an actual caboose. The bedding was comfortable and the caboose had THREE queen-sized beds, 2 of which were on a bunk bed - the top bed looked out of the engineer windows into a pine forest. And it had fast WiFi! The staff couldn't have been more helpful with tons of recommendations.

  • Liked — Staying in a caboose-suite!
  • Disliked — The top rail on the bunk bed is very unstable and my son fell out.
