“The only place to stay in Williams”

Sheridan House Inn

Apr 23, 2008

B & B's are popular in the UK but few compare to this place. KC is the perfect host and the "family suites" are perfect for travelling families. The house is tucked away up the hill from "downtown" Williams. The rooms are spacious and spotless and tastefully furnished. The pool table was a hit with our youngest as was the provision of soda's in the fridge. Coffee was always on the boil and this was home from home after 4 days in frantic Vegas!
We didn't try the hot tub in the back yard, maybe next time!
Breakfast was fab, loads of fruit, cereals, full cooked breakfast and homemade blueberry scones. We stayed either side of a day at the Canyon and it was bliss!!
Lots of places to eat in Williams, take KC's tip for the best pies in town you won't go wrong. Town is a 5 minute drive away as is the Grand Canyon Railway depot.
Matt says hi to Roxy the dog!!
Do consider staying here if in the Williams area, it's not the cheapest in town but you gets what you pay for!

From the moment you arrive you know something is different here...a down home greeting awaited me as soon as I walked up the driveway. KC and Mary made me feel like I was just visiting a relative! They both obviously enjoy being hosts and they excel at it....from the little touches like the chocolates in the rooms to the making sure that you have a bottle of water when you leave....from the GREAT breakfast spread every morning to the caring way they make sure you reach your intended day time destination. Upon arrival back from the Grand Canyon on our second day, KC walked out the door as we were walking in and said "How was your day? I prepared a snack for you...just go downstairs to the recreation room and it's there." WOW! This is one of the best lodging experiences of my entire life and I travel A LOT! I am for sure going to return to the Sheridan House Inn very soon!!!

After a long journey through a snow storm, our family of 5 was greeted warmly, curbside, by the owner KC. We were offered hot complimentary beverages and given a tour of the house. Fireplaces, pool table, piano and a popcorn machine. Kids loved it. Include Roxy, the house dog, and they were in heaven.
The rooms are clean, warm, and cozy. Our rooms were located in the guest house, providing a bit more privacy.
The Inn is 1/2 mile from Rt 66. Away from the crowds, but an enjoyable walk into town for dinner.
To some it does not have the glamor of a hotel. No big flashing lights here, or valet parking. One guest apparently left without even stepping foot in the place. Big mistake. We loved it!
We stayed in Williams for our journey to the Grand Canyon. Took a guided tour with Marvelous Marv, whose link is on the Sheridan site. Marv lived beyond expectations! Don't take the train. Call Marv. Educational, entertaining, and a long time local.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, breakfast is served at 8am in the dining room. Buffet style. We enjoyed fresh fruit, hot apple cinnamon pancakes, eggs, sausage....need more??

“Polar Express Family trip”

Sheridan House Inn

Jan 28, 2008

This was my fourth stay at the Sheridan House Inn. Past trips have been after hiking in the Grand Canyon. My friends and I liked the location next to the forest as a way to ease back into our normal lives. The deck and views are wonderful.

In December 2006, my husband and I had returned from watching the boarding of the Polar Express Train in Williams (Grand Canyon Railway). Our host K.C. told us that families have stayed at the Sheridan House Inn when they take the train trip. Train tickets were on sale for the 2007 season. Our planning began within days. We bought train tickets and booked 3 suites for two nights. The ten of us, including 4 children, had lots of space with privacy and could use the shared spaces like the pool room and play room for getting together. There was even a table in the dining room that seated 10 so we enjoyed a big family breakfast together.

The Grand Canyon Railway has trips year round to the South Rim. Williams is a fun small town to explore and a good location for seeing the sites of Northern Arizona. The hosts at Sheridan House Inn will provide suggestions if needed.

What was particularly special about this trip was being able to share it in a family friendly Inn and having the second day to explore more of the Williams area.

The owner KC made us feel very welcome and at home. There were lots of yummie things to eat and drink, shelves and shelves of great movies and books, a popcorn machine and a pool table are just a few things this "home" had!! Thanks for the wonderful stay.
