“What a dump!”

This place is a dump. I stayed here because of all the wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor, which made it sound like kitchy Route 66 fun. I don't know who is writing those reviews, but they didn't stay at the same place I did, it seems.

My room was postage-stamp sized, furnished with "vintage" Goodwill rejects, and completely charm free. Bathroom tiles were separating from the wall, the splash guards at the corners of the tub were separating from the wall, the bathtub consisted of a vinyl insert that rippled underfoot, and the towels were stiff as boards. Complimentary shampoo and soap were large containers of products used by multiple guests.

That said, the place appeared clean and was relatively inexpensive. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this motel to anyone.

This is RoadDude's first tripadvisor review. I ask every guest if they have had any problems with the room and if their stay was good. I ask them to preview the room before checking in to prevent a unpleasent stay. Not everyone wants to stay in a older room. I have not had a problem report for over 4 months. This guest stayed in room #8. We have repaired the tile and splash guard issues he points out today. The room, closet, and bath measure 200 square feet. I measured it today. We are Old...First motor court built in Williams, built in 1936 after Route 66 was fully paved. Our furnature is mostly from a craftsman in SantaFe from the early 1950's. The dresser in room 8 was purchased at a antique store in Phoenix and we have not had a chance to refinish it. I do not know what the reviewer was looking for, obviously not a typical historic motel stay from the late1930's. Thats what we have plus most likely the best breakfast at a motel served on the patio with no additional cost. Our two housekeepers get paid by the hour and I tell them that I do not care how long it takes them to get the room clean. I recommend RoadDude stick to Holiday Inns or other high dollar newer lodging to stay at.

I stayed at the Grand Motel after reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews here, and I have to say that I just don't get why anyone is enthusiastic about it. I appreciated the decent mattress, new air conditioning unit, refrigerator, microwave and cable TV - the owners are clearly investing a few bucks in the place. On the other hand, the carpet in my room should have been replaced a very, very long time ago (I wouldn't let my feet even touch the floor). The rooms are postage-stamp small and there isn't a lick of charm to compensate for that or the ratty exterior. There is zero retro feel. My room, despite its theme name, had no theme. There is no neon-trimmed old Route 66 charm. Zip. It's just an old motel. No doubt there are worse places to stay in Williams, but there is absolutely nothing special about this place.

This reviewer was not happy with the old carpet and the room size or the outside paint job. I would love to replace the carpet but the funds are not there. We have many return guests so it must not be all that bad. We aggressively clean the rooms and carpets. this reviewer has a history of rating the rooms they stay in at 2 so I expect they want more than they are getting. Please look at their other reviews by clicking on their name and take this one with a grain of salt. The motel next to us is only 2 years from its total rebuild and $100 a night. This reviewer should have stayed there. Their rooms are smaller then ours.

We drove across the U.S. in 5 days. We stayed at the Grand Motel the last night of our trip. The Owner was very helpful in finding a place on his property for us to park our truck and trailer. He was very friendly and the Continental breakfast was the best we had on our entire trip! Lots of fresh fruit. The room was very quaint with that shabby chic feel to it. The only complaint I have, is that I thought the paticular room we were in could have used a coat of paint and maybe a little more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning. The chair rail that borders the room was very dusty. The bathroom was clean though, and the shower worked well. Overall, we loved the place and will definitly be back.

“A Memorable Stay”

The casual relaxed atmosphere made this one of our top motels on our trip of 15 different motels in different cities and states. We really enjoyed the center-court patio, where we relaxed and visited with other motel guests and also, where we enjoyed a very delightful breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable with many touches of home. Pet friendly is very important since we travel with our small dog. Bob, the owner, has Lucy, who is a very friendly cat. Would highly recommend. Price, quality, and atmosphere make this a wonderful place to stay a night or a month.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Grand Motel. It is a nostalgic step back in time to the days when Route 66 was the main way to California. Bob made our stay delightful with his advice and suggestions of things to do. The rooms were comfortable and Bob even gave us a choice of rooms. The breakfast provided was good and plentiful. I would wholeheartedly reccommend Bob's motel. Thanks Bob if you happen to read this.
