“Quaint, comfortable and clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

My husband and I searched for a room in the Williams area during Memorial Day weekend. What we could find, the rates were outrageous. We got lucky and found a room at the Grand for 1 night on a hotel booking site. We arrived tired after a 6 hour drive. The owner checked us in. She was very cordial, informative and accomodating. She told us the Grand was the first motel built in Williams in 1939. We were in a double queen which were in 2 separate rooms. It was neat and clean right down to the pleasant smell as you walked in. Loved the retro lamps, the stucco walls (freshly painted) and the laminate wood floors (I HATE carpet in a hotel...won't walk on them barefoot). I didn't mind walking on these barefoot. It had a kitchenette area, complete with the retro sink. Had coffeemaker, microwave and fridge. The bathroom had new fixtures but the original tub and tile which was spotless! The decor was native american. The very BEST was the beds. They were heaven. We've been on the road for 9 days and that was the best I slept the whole trip. Linens fresh and clean. This place is a real gem. If you get the chance stay here. You won't regret it!

My family stayed here on our visit to the Grand Canyon and we were so glad we did. We reserved a double queen room, and the two beds were each in their own room, with both having access to the bathroom. Having a room separate from our kids was a pleasant surprise, but since the climate control was only in our part of the room, we had to keep the door ajar at night. The buildings are old, and they have that "rustic charm" thing going for them, and he's in the middle of renovating the whole place. Our room had laminate wood flooring, and the owner says that he plans to replace the carpet with laminate throughout. The location was great-easy walking distance to all the restaurants and shops without being right in the middle of town. The owner recommended places to eat (and at least as importantly, where to avoid) and even told us about a Wild West show since my son was with us, and points of interest to hit on the drive home. Breakfast was coffee, milk, juice, cereal, oatmeal, english muffins, bagels and toast. Overall, a real value for a motel and a great "home base" for the Grand Canyon.

Picked this motel because it was the first motel built on Route 66 and is now a historic site. The owner was extremely helpful, a plethora of information, the rooms renovated nicely and comfortable, very clean. Everything is walking distance. We were a family of 7. The kids even liked their room. Cannot wait to see the total renovations. Owners are new and doing a great job at this new adventure in this super cute town that sends you back in time.

Richard basically saved our trip.

We initially booked another motel in the area but couldn't endure the smell there. It was late and as we were checking around if there's room available, and Richard was still renovating one of the rooms in Grand Motel.

He gave us a 2-bed suite and even gave us a ride to pick up our car. The room we stayed at was at better price but higher quality. The breakfast is no surprise but I enjoy the feeling talking with Richard and other travelers. It is simply enjoyable. I love meeting and talking with people during my random trip in my 20s, and this reminds me that feeling again.

An old motel, the, first I have been told. The exterior dos not do it justice. Richard the owner is renovating the place and it is on its way to suppasing the original.
Neat, and clean rooms, Richard is keen that you will enjoy your stay, with restaurant advice and places to visit. We booked for 2 nights, stayed for 5!
Loved the town and the people.
