“Hog wild BBQ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

A little hard to find--but worth the hunt. Belly up to the trough, for the best BBQ you have ever had. Pulled pork sandwich with the most amazing sauces ,each bite is a different taste. Ribs so good you won't want to stop eating. Fresh hand cut french, Pork, fries from the back room. MAKE a reservation they only cook a limited amount of BBQ--fresh and OH so good . Kathi was our host and blue beard Kevin the BBQer. Sit at the trough to get the best view of the kitchen. You will be treated like your an old friend.

“Home cooking with down home hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

We stopped by this humble little place on our way back to Flagstaff after a long day at the Grand Canyon. The restaurant is just off the main street and it takes a bit of effort to spot it. Kathi and Kevin ( sporting a blue beard) greeted us warmly and soon we were chatting away like old friends. The food was exceptional. I had the delightful, drippy pulled pork sandwich with a side of home made coleslaw and it was delicious. A great find through Trip Advisor - do check it out!

“Best BBQ we've ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

What a find after reviewing Tripadvisor. Always looking for independent restaurants rather than the cookie cutter chains. Kathi & Kevin run a friendly, GREAT joint. Our 1st time here; but, it was like we'd been coming in ever since they opened. Awesome food. The "Pork Fries" are to die for! It's so nice to find folks who honestly care about what they are doing. They could run a school on hospitality and teach others how to keep guests coming back.

Wow Whodat! Thank you for such a nice review. We really appreciate you taking the time to let others know about your meal with us and hope you'll come back again soon. Prescott is just a hop, skip and a jump away, so come back often if you can. Love & Messy BBQ, Kathi & Kevin

“The "real deal" smoky, succulent, melt-in-your-mouth BBQ!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

We came across this wonderful little bbq joint after looking on Trip Advisor for a great place to eat lunch. Walking up to the door we saw a sign in the window that said reservations were needed. Thank goodness we were here early enough that reservations were not needed but after you eat here once you will definitely want to be sure to make reservations because if you don't then you might be out of luck in order to have this amazing food.

The owners are Kevin and Kathi and they are very passionate about the food and service they provide you. We walked in and Kathi greeted us as if we were old friends. You have a choice on where to sit so we chose to sit in the 100 year old bar. My mom and I had the three pulled pork sliders that was also served with fresh cut french fries. These were the best french fries we have ever eaten because we like to have them a little bit crunchy. They were cooked to perfection. My dad had the pork fries which consisted of a basket of fresh cut french fries smothered in pulled pork and topped with Tomatillo sauce. He said that the sauce was a bit spicy hot but that surely did not stop him from devouring the entire basket! The mesquite smoked pork was so tender and succulent with the flavors melded together that I felt it was some of the best I have ever had and I know my parents felt the same way I did.

Kevin came out to the table and talked to us about his barbecuing techniques and even offered me a bit of advice on how to cook venison when I get home to Washington. I hope that after you read this you will take my suggestion and have a meal here. You will not be disappointed by the food, service or the hospitality that you will receive.
