We have recently returned to the UK after touring California. We stayed at the Red Garter Inn in Williams AZ, for three nights. As their web site states, the property was originally a bordello and has been renovated and decorated in that theme. Hence our room was called the "best gal's room" The room was very well laid out, with a separate sitting area, a very comfortable bed and a clean and well stocked ensuite shower room.
The rooms are all upstairs (quite steep but not enough to cause any problems) downstairs is the bakery- it is here that breakfast is served- this was very good, as well as the usual fruit juices and tea/coffees and cereal we were able to select what ever items we fancied from the bakery- there were a lot of very tasty pastries to choose from and we were spoilt for choice.
According to our guide book, the property could be haunted, when we arrived, we read that our room was the one that had apparently had most ghostly activity!! Unfortunately, we can't confirm the ghost's existance as we didn't see or hear a thing while we were there.
The B&B is ideally located for the Grand Canyon railway, which we rode on to the Canyon and thoroughly enjoyed. Also Williams is on the old route 66, and it is fun walking around the town and almost stepping back in time to the fifties.
We had a really great time at The Red Garter Inn and would urge anyone considering visiting the Grand Canyon or Williams to stay at The Red Garter.
