Yes I agree with some of the comments of previous reviewers. Hotel is big - so big that the first night it took us a while to find our room! We stayed the last weekend of the Polar Express (they run this until second week in Jan!) so there were lots of children staying which made the buffet and breakfast times pretty noisy and busy. The hotel also allows children to eat in bar area - it would be much nicer for not allowing children so you can enjoy your drinks in quieter surroundings.

The buffet was adequate - not great and it was the same choice two nights running so I would definitely eat somewhere else if you are staying more than one night and there are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We didn't have the choice of upgrading to something else on the menu, probably because it was a busy time and I dread to think what it must be like the weeks before Christmas.

Still it was worthing going at that time because the hotel still had the Christmas lights up and it had snowed the week before so it looked very pretty at night.

The train trip was great - we had dome car seats - we couldn't decide on first class or the dome but I think we made the right decision and our attendant couldn't have been nicer - she really looked after us well.

We were very lucky with the weather, blue skies and no wind so had a great few hours walking the south rim with hardly anyone around - great time of year to go if you don't mind taking a chance with the weather.

The hotel rooms are ok - nothing special but they do not have a fridge. Due to the size of the hotel, there is alot of noise from the corridors and adjoining rooms especially as there were lots of families staying with children whilst we were there.

So a slightly disappointing stay for us but if you have children you will be more than happy with what the hotel has to offer.

I went with high expectations, the train ride definitely made up for any lack thereof. I had heard alot of comments about the food. The dinner buffet was under par-hometown buffet meet small town diner, BUT you can use your buffet voucher credit towards the purchase of a menu item, which I did on my 2nd night and loved my teriyaki salmon and garlic mashed potatoes, you also get your very own waitress/waiter. The breakfast buffet- in fact very good. And the buffet lunch on the tour at the Maswik was delicious!!The only thing I didn't like was you always have to wait to get a drink at Max & Thelma's and I'm a thirsty person. You can also use your buffet vouchers for credit at the gift shop or even the very nice Spenser's bar inside the hotel which I had a strawberry daquiri or 2 before a dip at the indoor jacuzzi. There is also a Mc Donald's 2 blocks away. Overall I had a great time and not alot to complain about at all. On my last day. I skipped breakfast and bought some souvenirs instead, and we bought coffee on our drive out. I can't wait to go back, hopefully for the Christmas Season to their 'Northpole' experience. The train ride was definitely the highlight of the trip. We sat in first class and was worth every penny of the upgrade cost difference. The seats almost recline all the way down and the window size was great. I enjoyed my free champagne the way back but they didn't serve it until about an 1 hr into the ride and we all bought several drinks and were quite buzzed by the time the champage came around. I laughed and had so much fun on this trip- I know i sprouted some new laugh lines.- Quick Suggestion- bring your own bottled water- not free inside the room. Also coffee is served complimentary in the lobby. One more thing- stop at Sedona, about 1 1/2 drive- It was AWESOME! 3 words, PINK jEEP TOUR!!

Nice room , good pool and spa (although pool could have been a couple degrees warmer!!) No problems...

I'd been seeing the "Rails to the Rim" package in my AAA magazine for years, so I decided to book the very best package I could with them for our 30th anniversary. My husband and I were NOT dissapointed after checking into the hotel after a rather luxurious B&B stay in Sedona.

Yes, this is a standard hotel with rooms designed for shorter stays, but clean and adequate in every way. The lobby and Spencer's are very nice, and although we didn't use the indoor pool area, it looked well-maintained when we checked it out. I do not think you wil find any "Four Seasons" style accomodations in Williams, and you really don't need them if your main purpose is to ride the train to the Grand Canyon.

We had dinner in town on our last night (after coming back from the GC) and used our meal vouchers for drinks at Spencer's which were so reasonable that we had a hard time using all of our voucher value! Oh happy night.

The hotel is central to evertyhing pertaining to the "RtR" trip. You will park your car and stroll to the depot, the western show, Max and Thelma's restaurant and if you're in good shape, cross the tracks into town where there is a Western style restaurant and an internet cafe close to the old Route 66. Utterly charming.
