This place exudes small-town charm! There aren't enough local ice-cream parlors in this world anymore...too many franchies, too many national chains. This place makes up for it! Homemade ice cream which is delicious! Good sandwiches with excellent meat. Cute decor; shop area with locally made gifts and crafts....and best of all, live entertainment! A local cowboy singing old western songs.....how can you get more charming than that?! The place also has a kind of farmers' market, craft fair on Fridays which also supports the local arts-and-crafts scene. Perfect!
Now, all this being said, I would have given 5 stars, except for the service (which I see the reviewer prior to me complained about as well.) They have a little sign which jokes about slow service, which could seem charming in a hokey kind of way, but really....it's just TOO slow. Painfully slow. It took 25 minutes to get a to-go sandwich and over 10 minutes on a separate visit to get one ice cream scoop. Owners: you need to hire more staff. Your food is good, the atmosphere is great, but the service mars the experience. Get a few more high school kids working the counters, and this place will be absolute top-notch!
