“Great breakfasts, wonderful service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2011

Simple breakfasts cooked properly and served with a smile. Stop in and say Hi you will feel like part of the family, I did.

“Just another small town pit stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

The staff was friendly, but the food was just so-so. My husband had a prime rib dip, which is his usual, and he liked it well enough. It came with tasty sweet potato fries. I just had a cobb salad, which was pretty rough. Again, nothing special - I could have just bought a bag of iceberg lettuce, dumped it on my plate, added some eggs, ham and turkey and had the same thing. Oh, and don't forget the ONE random crouton and three slices of cucumber stuck together. It filled my belly, but didn't tantalize my taste buds.

“Friendly, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

This venue is one room with booths around the perimeter and random small tables in the open space. When we walked in, everyone in the place turned to look at us. :-) Sort of a small town thing, I guess. They had a busy night before we arrived around 7 and were out of several items, including most of the beer selection. The seemingly simple task of ordering a beer became a trial in finding out what they actually did have left in the small reefer. (Apparently their large unit was recently broken, so they were making do with a small one temporarily.)

I had the 'famous' chicken fried steak and while the gravy was good and the breading so-so, the pounded steak was pretty tough, despite the made to order aspect of it. The veggies were fresh and cooked nicely, the potatoes were just box stuff. My companion had half a grilled cheese and it was ok, but nothing special. Normal size bread, so a half is on the small side. Not a complaint, but be aware.

I suspect they are a little better earlier in the evening. Many places close at 7 pm on Sunday nights in Wickenburg.

“Satisfied my hunger.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2011

Just had their cheeseburger, it was lean and a good size burger with fries. Added an apple pie but was average though homemade. Friendly & homey relaxed atmosphere with all sorts of cowboy stuff on the wall. Price was very reasonable. I'd stop again.

“Don't expect gourmet food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

Now that the Cowboy Cafe has moved from its old location on N. Tegner - where the dining space was little larger than a railroad car or a trailer home - to much roomier accomodation right on the major intersection of Wickenburg (hwy 60 (Wickenburg Way) and Tegner (old route 93), it is more visible to folks passing. The large, almost square and high dining hall also features a small gift shop with a few neat curios. Service is friendly, but sometimes absent, i.e. waiters and waitresses disappear into the kitchen and stay gone for some time. The food, for our taste, was somewhat on the fat, oily and greasy side, but this is a matter of preference of course. But you will not find a truly 'healthy' meal in there. The parts hidden underneath the fried breaded crusts - in my case chicken - were tasty and juicy for sure, I just would have preferred them without an oily crust or smothered in some sauce.
