I was on a personal healing retreat recently in West Sedona. I had visited there years earlier and returned for some personal healing time. I was driving cross country and ended up in Sedona at the peak of season the second week of October. I found a wonderful new retreat center in West Sedona called Harmony House. It has two suites each with complete kitchens and baths. This was perfect for me as I like to prepare my own meals (staying away from carbs right now) and eat organically. This place is near the trail heads for thunder mountain and coffee pot, I am a hiker and I love early morning hikes or late afternoon. They gave me a private tour near the beginning of my stay and introduced me to the area's sacred sites. I was able to go on several hikes on my own after that and make the most of my time. The massages, accommodations, tour, and the area are all worth your visit. Take time to find them. They have a new web site and can be found if you type in retreatandheal. Sedona is a magical healing place each time I visit I come away feeling renewed and cleansed. No wonder the American Indians would travel long distances to this area for visions and for their soul journeys.

My favorite vortex site was Sugarloaf, which also has a trail head near retreatandheal. It is a female vortex and is good for just sitting and meditating. Also Boynton Canyon is in West Sedona and is a magical canyon for personal healing. Don't miss the cave at Thunder Mountain it is a 1 hour hike from retreatandheal and is well worth the time and energy to find it. Also in this same area is the new Tibetan Stupa, the energy here is beautiful and healing and worth a 20 minute hike. My favorite grocery store is ten minutes away, New Frontier and they sell all sorts of organic treats and salads.

West Sedona is my favorite area, with all of my favorite sacred sites within 15 to 20 minutes, and away from all the chaos and traffic of downtown. I think once you visit you will agree.
