Family of 2 adults and 1 teen on a two week, 5,000 mile road trip around the southwest. We arrived at the Maswik Lodge at 3:20 pm. We were greeted and on our way to our room within minutes even though check in wasn't supposed to be until 4:00. Every employeee that we came into contact with was very polite and helpful. We were in the Mesquite building on the north side. The room had two queen beds, refrigerator , air conditioner and a 4 cup coffee maker. We had no trouble finding a parking space directly in front of our building. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and quiet. Our view was of the woods and train tracks. We did hear the train pass a few times but it wasn't loud enough to bother us. Everytime we left our room we saw elk or deer. The elk kept their distance but the deer approached us quite often. The Maswik has a small gift shop, cafeteria and lounge. The cafeteria food was equal to hospital food and the prices were a bit steep but it's the Grand Canyon so that is to be expected. They had a sandwich station, pasta station, Mexican food and hot dinners that included chili, turkey with stuffing, chicken, etc. Plenty of options for the whole family. Beer and wine are also available and were each priced at around $5.00 per small bottle. As sub sandwich was $5.98 and the hot dinners were about $10.00. Two well drinks at the lounge cost us $12. I can't comment on breakfast as we didn't eat there. Prices in the gift shop were reasonable. The walk to the rim was a bit further than we had expected and included some stairs. Not too bad though. We stayed one night and the cost was $172.91 after taxes for our standard two queen north. We made the reservation six months in advance. This place was quite nice and we will definitely make the trip back to the canyon and stay here again!

Situated 5 minutes walk from the canyon edge this was the next best thing to actually being on the South Rim itself.
The accommodation was was clean, with helpful staff.
They have their own cafeteria which serves up a large array of food, very reasonably priced as well. There is also a sports bar serving till 11PM, a good place to finish off the evening.
You're right in Grand Canyon Village so ideally located for Tourist information, guided tours, local buses and other restaurants.

Maswik lodge has a good location - 5 minutes walk from the canyon edge near the Bright Angel Trail, but that is the best you can say about it. The temperature outside was 100 degrees but it was hotter in the room - choose somewhere with air con if you visit in summer or you will really suffer.
Lots of restaurants in walking distance, but you don't really come for the food. The views are stupendous, the shuttle bus service efficient and as the park is huge, this is a big plus and the sky at night is brighter than I have ever seen it. Could see the milky way.

“Cute Cabin”

Maswik Lodge

Pleasantly surprised with our two night stay in one of the cabins at Maswik. We were able to check in before 3pm and the front desk employees and cleaning staff were very nice and helpful. The cabin was clean with two beds, desk, tv, and couch. It was a little small but adequate for a short stay. Bathroom area was very small with no counter space at all but was very clean. There was a shower stall only with no bathtub. A very small but separate room with the toilet. Hotel provided ample soap, towels, etc. There was also no refrigerator. The room had a ceiling fan which we found effective as the evenings are cool even in August. There was some train noise in the early evenings as the cabin was near the train tracks. Could hear any water used by neighbors but did not hear any other noise from neighbors. A very short walk to the rim and shuttle bus. The cafeteria was pricey and not very good. Overall, cabin was lovely and cozy with lots of character. Good value for the money.

Stayed here at the start of August for 2 nights as one of the stops on a tour we had organised ourselves.

We were a bit concerned before we arrived at Maswik that the accommodation might be a bit 'basic', but this is not the case. We are a family of four, two adults and two teenage children, and the rooms were spacious, beds comfortable and with air condtioning and a ceiling fan. As the weather was unseasonable cool, with thunderstorms, we only needed the ceiling fan which was quieter.

The rooms are set in groups within the woodland, and we saw deer grazing outside our room, it has a really peaceful atmosphere.

It takes only 5 minutes to walk to the Rim, and there is a stop for the free shuttle bus right outside the Lodge, should you need to go further into the village.

The cafeteria is a bit basic, but OK for breakfast. We did eat dinner there on our first night, but it wasn't that great, although there is a lot of choice, and it is very reasonable. We also ate at the Arizona Room, we had to wait an hour for our table, and then the food wasn't that great.

Overall would definitely recommend the Maswik Lodge for reasonably priced, family accommodation at the Grand Canyon.
