“Very close to Grand Canyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Do not trust your GPS and good map nearby Grand Canyon! We got lost even we had both equipments, found right direction till we went to the gift shop for help. Do bring a copy of map! The room is simple and okay, nothing special to be pointed out.
One tip is that as I am a Chinese, I do not recommend the Mexican food around the lodge. The food was very foreign to us and in big big portion. Fast food is better.

Red Feather was an excellent combination of quality and location. Hotel looks and acts new, although it is perhaps 10 years old. It's been maintained extremely well. All the important elements of a hotel (rooms, beds, bathrooms, cleanliness, etc., etc.) were top notch. A bonus is that it is within a very short walking distance of Pink Jeep (which we used to tour the GC) and the IMAX theater, as well as a few eating places (the Mexican restaurant next door is also quite good). Overall, the choice of the RFL was an excellent one.

I stayed in the motel section of the lodge for two nights 5/4-5/6. This place is basically two separate hotels that merged and have undergone renovations. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was not the biggest room. It only provided about three feet between the bed and the dresser to walk by, but it was a good accommodation for two people. Bathroom was clean, no bugs in the room and the toiletries are bath and body works. Overall I am glad I chose this place because it was cheaper than grand canyon village and the ride to the village was under 10 minutes from the lodge. Wished the room had a fridge-that would be the only downside. I'm glad that I listened to other trip advisor travelers and took the chance.

I was a bit worried to book the Red Feather Lodge as it only has one or two stars, but trusted the great tripadvisor reviews and took the plunge, because we did not want to spend the kind of money the park hotels were charging, but neither did we want to drive for an hour after sunset and before sunrise. I cannot fathom why this hotel only has one star, it certainly had everything one would like, and more. The rooms are very clean, comfortable mattresses, nice towels, clean bathroom. Excellent service from reception staff. We stayed on the third floor of the main hotel building, and I did not get to see the other rooms, that seemed to be in a motel-type strip.

Stayed at Red Feather for two nights. Very clean room my number one requirement. Comfortable beds, my other requirement. We appreciated the free fast wi-fi. Two queen beds made the room small but acceptable. Only equipment missing was a small fridge, however there are plenty of fast food places to get a quick cheap meal. An enjoyable stay, close to the GC NP.

If you decide to stay outside the park entrance the red feather is very clean and convenient. Tusayan is a small village at the park entrance with limited facilities but the rooms cost less than in the park and if you're prepared to get up a bit early staying in Tusayan is fine.

we recently moved from the east to west coast and took the opportunity to see sights, including the Grand Canyon, along the way. Red Feathers was well situated close to the park for daily excursions and the room card got us discounts on food at a couple of places in Tusayan. While there was nothing particularly exceptional about the room itself (no fridge but good wifi), we were impressed for two reasons: first, we had our 2 cats along with us. As first time travelers with pets we now realize the challenge of finding a pet friendly place that does not charge too much and Red Feathers was excellent! Second, I left my credit card at reception on check out. They immediately sent an email and phoned to let me know of my mistake and FedExed it out to me right away! We were very impressed and thank the staff for going out of their way for us.

Room Tip: the pet friendly rooms are over in the motel side. Perhaps the rooms in the main building are a lit...
