My boyfriend, two cats and I stayed here for night six of our cross country road trip. We really wanted to stay inside the Grand Canyon national park but there were no pet-friendly hotels inside, only places that required your pets stay in a local kennel, something we were not interested in. Therefore we decided on the Red Feather Lodge based on the fact that it was close to the entrance to the park and accepted pets. When you stay with pets at the Red Feather Lodge they make you stay in the older motel section of their property, which worried me at first but ended up being great. The room was big with two beds, nice size tv, table with chairs and decent bathroom. We were told all the rooms had been recently upgraded. I think everything but the bathroom had been upgraded so it was still old looking but really clean and had a nice selection of Bath and Body Works products (which was a nice touch). Oftentimes designated pet rooms aren’t that clean but this one sure was! We were really happy with our stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone to wants to be close to the park but who are traveling with pets. The Lodge was also close to some fast food places and a local grocery store type place which came in handy for dinner and breakfasts and stocking up on snacks and water for the trip into the park. If you are staying with pets they do have someone inspect the room before you are permitted to check out, which was just a simple walk through your room to make sure it was not damaged or dirtied from the pets. Overall this is a good place to get some rest before your big day at the Grand Canyon.

Having never been to the Grand Canyon we researched our stay on Trip Advisor & chose the Red Feather lodge per the reviews. The hotel is situated just outside of the park in an area with a few restaurants and like hotels nearby. The Redfeather has an older/original building and a new addition. We stayed in the newer part & found the room to be comfortable, clean and adequate for our needs. Our room was on the 1st floor just outside of the lobby area but noise or traffic was never a problem.

A basic breakfast of juices, fruits, coffee, packaged muffins, oatmeal, etc. is provided and the room it's provided is small & teeming with people. Despite the crowd and people seeming to load-up for the day ahead, there always seemed to be ample food.

As far as the pool, it may be heated but it's outdoors off of the newer part of the hotel, relatively small in size and at the end of theparking lot. All of this along with the cool temps. didn't make the pool tempting to our 8 yr. old.

We do have to commend the hotel for their responsiveness. My daughter left some important school books behind in the room. With a simple phone call to the hotel, they located the books and promptly returned them via FedEx (on our dime). We were very pleased with the hotel's customer service on this matter.

Overall, it was a solid place to stay.

Before we visited Grand Canyon I checked out several hotels for a two night stay.
The worse thing was that mostly all hotels which are located close to the South Rim are pretty expensive. The cheap chains like Motel 6, Travelodge ect. are located in Williams or Flagstaff which is in my opinion too far away from the South Rim entrance. If you go there for hiking, instead of taking the crowded Canyon shuttle along the Canyon, I think you won't be interested in driving additional 50 miles back to your Hotel. So you have the choice between Grand Canyon Village (expensive) and Tusayan (affordable).
I chose the Red Feather Lodge because of the Tripadvisor reviews, the rates and the good location. Our room was clean and quiet . The only things what bothered me (and to be honest it's only a luxury problems) were the staffs behaviour (not very friendly) and the overcrowded breakfast room. So if you go there you should think about taking your breakfast to your room, if you appreciate a unhurriedly breakfast.

Furthermore I chose Tusayan as location, because I didn't want to spend more than 125 Dollar per night. Tusayan itself is a small village next to a bigger road. There you find Hamburger chains like McDonald's and Wendy's, one grocery store and 2 or 3 restaurants ( I can recommend the Yipeeh-ya-ohh Steakhouse because it.'s like in a western). Tusayan is only 2 miles away from National Parks entrance and 7 from the Canyon. Compared to Grand Canyon Village I had the impression that it's more kicking and you have more choices for dinner and spending the evening.
Another tip would be the El Tovar Hotel in Grand Canyon Village, because it's directly at the Abyss. You have to go inside, because it has a nice atmosphere and a amazing lobby with wild west character. But as I mentioned it's really expensive (you pay the location) and they advertise wrong rates!

We had a wonderful stay the staff was wonderful and the rooms were very clean. We loved their Bath and Body Works bathroom amenities. It was close to the National Park and the breakfast was good the room the breakfast is served in was a bit small but the food was fine. We will stay there again if we ever return. The price was much more reasonable compared to the others in the area.

I stayed here for one night in March and the stay was decent. The room was comfortable and clean and the amnenities were all there. They even have Bath & Body Works stuff in the bathroom! My only complaint about the hotel was the extremely noisy heaters. We couldn't keep ours on it was so noisy but we could still hear the neighbors!
