“Great location & Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Amenities and Location were perfect. Located about a mile outside the gate entrance to the Grand Canyon. The IMAX Theater is 1/4 of a mile away and the helicopter tours are less than a 1/2 mile away. Hotel has an excellent steak house and there are several good restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in regards to must see places in the area.

It is obvious that the owners of this establishment put all their money into renovations on the outside of this hotel. Good way to draw people in and charge outrageous rates for their rooms that are worse than any Motel 6. We were charged almost $300.00 for a one night stay, the room was supposedly designed for four guests, that is if no one was to do anything but get into bed and sleep. The room was way too small for 2 queen beds a desk, TV w/large stand and another desk area w/coffee maker. You could literally make coffee without leaving the bed. There was barely any area to open 3 small suitcases and be able to walk without tripping! The carpet was filthy, clock did not work, décor was very outdated, beds were lumpy with thin pillows and the extra money we spent for a balcony was a joke. It overlooked the parking lot, outdoor furniture was in need of repair, windows and glass balcony door were covered in mud/dirt and in general n need of a good cleaning. There is only one elevator, staff use it to bring down the dirty linens/maids carts/roll away bed/trash, etc.. There are no signs indicating the location of their "pool", although upon registration they bragged about having a pool, maybe it was best we did not find it! The only "good" thing I can recall is the Keurig coffee maker but keep in mind this hotel thinks everyone likes just one sugar/sweet and low/creamer in their coffee~2 pkts for 4 guests? They provide shampoo/conditioner/bath gel in large containers in the shower~all w/The Grand Hotel logo~they are "glued" to the upper shower area and not handy for the shorter crowd, not to mention the scent...............I will leave that for you to decide, not for me! I guess by now you know I will NEVER stay here again!!!!!

A luxury hotel, let down for us by sub standard housekeeping and room preparation. Upon opening up our double room we saw that the quilts on both beds were creased. One of the pillows had no pillowcase and, on pulling down the quilt on the bed that we intended using, there was a long black hair on the sheet. I returned to the hotel reception desk and asked if the room we had been given had been prepared for fresh guests, or if housekeeping had prepared it assuming that its’ previous guests were still staying. I was assured that it would have been prepared for new guests, and when I recounted the above, the desk agent stated that he would record my complaint in the register held at the reception desk. As I returned to the room I looked in at other rooms being prepared and saw creased bed linen in all the rooms, and the missing pillowcase in our room was not replaced whilst we stayed there!
On a positive note, the hotel itself is ideally located and the female receptionist was very helpful with advice regarding the helicopter flights and viewing spots for seeing the sunset in the canyon.

I was actually very torn about booking here after reading some terrible reviews, but I just couldn't resist the hotel I saw in the pictures. I am so glad we stayed here! I didn't want to stay in a cookie cutter hotel while at the Grand Canyon and I was not disappointed! The ladies were very nice while checking in and out. The lobby is open and spacious and we chose to use the stairs because they weren't too strenuous even with 3 small children. The gift shop and entrance to the saloon and restaurant were right there and all so cute in a western theme. The restaurant was pretty good although pretty expensive. However I was forewarned by another reviewer that everything is expensive in the Grand Canyon. Our breakfast at McDonalds was $50 for 2 adults and 2 small kids - the baby had her baby food. The room was pretty clean and comfortable. We saw 2 huge elk in the parking lot below our window - a sight we won't forget! The name Grand Hotel may throw people off - it's not grand because it's the most luxurious, it's because it's near the Grand Canyon which is unbelievably grand!!! I definitely recommend staying here and would stay again if we returned.

Smart well furbished hotel with comfortable rooms and fully working plumbing. Ate at their own Steakhouse which was excellent if a touch pricey.

Great range of sensibly priced breakfasts.

Special praise to the maintenance man who was buzzing around the whole time and was real ball of energy.

It wasn't what I expected.. The bed was ok , the pillows were not comfortable, It was clean the staff was great.. Pain in the neck with 1 elevator and we were at the other end of the hotel.. We didn't try the restaraunt.. It was in a good area right at the beginning of the south end of the Grand Canyon..

Room Tip: Try to have a room close to the elevator other wise it seems like you walk miles to your room..
