“Mis-named hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Easy to locate, this hotel looks fine from the outside. Inside, however, it is wholly decorated in shades of brown, from the fake and real wood in the decor to the ginger-cake-mix coloured walls. Coupled with the inadequate lighting, this makes for a gloomy atmosphere. Perhaps it was thought that the fake wood and 'wild west' artefacts would give an authentic feel. At dinner, the 'entertainer' sang one C&W song after another until 9pm. We wondered why the restaurant was less than half full but this and the perfunctory service made us glad to leave. At breakfast, we were overcharged at first; getting the money seemed more important than serving the guests. We did not eat there again.
The bedroom lacked a shelf or hooks, there was no light over the bath/shower, the rail provided was too low to hang e.g. trousers but there were individual lights over each bed. Shops, restaurants and fuel is within easy reach.

“The Grand Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

This is a great hotel for families. We were there 11/23/2012 for 4 days.. It is right outside the South Entrance. The helicopter tours is less than a mile away and you can pick up the Pink Jeep tour right across the street, or they will come get you. There is a resteraunt and bar onsite, a small convence store with souveniers, and a snack bar. The breakfast buffet is very good and convenient. The rooms are very basic, but clean. Request one with a balcony.

Room Tip: the best location is first floor with a balcony if you are traveling with kids...otherwise top floor...

“Another good stay at The Grand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

This was the second time I've stayed at this hotel as I visited the Grand Canyon in 2001. We drove up from Vegas and only stayed one night but it was just as I remembered it. The inside of the hotel as you enter the reception area is awesome - it's just as you imagine a hunting lodge would be. The hotel was very clean and we had a lovely room on the second floor. To be honest we weren't really there long enough to see much of the hotel and we didn't eat there as we had stopped in Seligman on Route 66 on the way up (see my other review on Westside Lilos) but I would def reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants somewhere comfortable to stay while visiting the Grand Canyon and it was only minutes from the entrance to the National Park. We also went to see the film at the Imax theatre and that was really good - yes, I've done a review on that aswell.

“Holiday of a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We have just returned from a fantastic stay in this hotel. We originally planned to stay for two days and ended staying for five because we were so happy with the facilities and the location.
We also ate in the restaurant every morning and evening and the quality of food was excellent though be warned that if you eat in the bar area you might have quite a wait for the food. Also we ended up sharing meals because the portions were so large, especially the deep fried ice-cream in a basket!
The hotel have an indoor pool and hot tub which we used every day and really appreciated the fact that the hot tub was kept piping hot.
Tusayan has quite a few eating places and shops and was a great location for visiting the Canyon which was the main purpose of the visit, including getting up at 6 one morning to see the sunrise in a temperature of -10C!!!!
We would definately recommend this hotel to others.

“Hotel ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

The hotel is fine if one stays a couple of days. Nothing special but just fine. Spacious rooms, comfortable. We got a very noisy room near the drink distributor but the reception staff changed immediately to another room when weI said that we wouldn't stay in the noisy room. If you want a good alternative for a breakfast head to El Tovar in Grand Canyon Village for a great breakfast.
