4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Due to unexpected illness of young family member while camping in Grand Canyon National Park we needed to find local hotel urgently. Night manager was very helpful. We were able to continue our vacation after a day of R&R at this great facility.

We stayed here as it was one of the few places available for our dates. Not knowing a 'premier' was one of the higher BW hotels.

The first night the room was cold, there was only one thin blanket on the bed and one backup in the closet (for two beds). These were still very cool nights and the 'heat' was impossibly to adjust and it blew constantly creating a very dry room. The gap under the door allowed a lot of cold air so we placed one of the 'decorative bed roll pillows' in front. We did receive extra blankets the next day and did not mess with trying to get heat on for the second/last night (even after asking to have it fixed we could not figure out why the system did not kick on) If we had stayed more than 2 nights .

Computer room had only 3...for the size of this hotel, this was pretty small. Printer was out of service and paper/pens were not in the room.

The main restaurant was excellent, food very good.

It was okay but did not convince us that there was a huge difference between the plain 'ol BW and the 'Premier' with the exception of the excellent restaurant and breakfast buffet

Room Tip: check need for blankets/pillows, AC/Heat before settling in for the night.

Dear beejay56,
We appreciate that you took the time to write and post your comments regarding your recent stay with us.

We are truly sorry that you experienced some cool nights during your stay and that the heat was difficult to adjust. We are pleased that we were able to provide some additional blankets and hope that you were more comfortable. We are glad that you enjoyed the Coronado Room for a fine dining experience. Perhaps you tried one of our unique offerings such as the duck, elk medallions and even buffalo ribs?

We hope that you will plan to visit again soon.

Best regards,
Heather

Everything was excellent. We enjoyed our stay as the location was perfect in the village a few miles prior to the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim. Don't miss the IMAX presentation.

Dear Donald H,
We are pleased that you found your stay with us excellent. We see that you appreciated the close proximity to the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park. We also see that you got a chance to visit the IMAX theatre, just down the street to learn even more about the Grand Canyon.

Thank you for writing your review and for the recommendation.

Best regards,
Heather

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

As several reviewers have stated, this hotel is like being in a time-warp. It is a funny experience - from the odd paper towels to the 70s, cowboy decor - but it is in a great location for visiting the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and there are limited options this close to the park entrance.

The hotel was overpriced for what was on offer - we paid much more for a stay here than we did in a luxuriously new resort in Las Vegas - but location is everything sometimes. The hotel was clean, the staff was professional, and our room was spacious but the amenities are lacking. The bed was fine - not newish or overly comfortable, the breakfast, while included, is served in a cafeteria that felt like being in a middle school - plastic trays and plates, school tables, loud kids running around, lousy coffee, and few nutritious options, and the furniture was outdated.

The noise levels were varied depending on the neighbors. Since rooms are located off of long hallways, sounds can carry, and most folks are up very early in the morning to maximize their time in the park. Everything quiets down early at night, so that could be a plus.

The town is small and there are shops and other restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The park entrance is only about a 5 minute drive. Although there is free parking on-site, it did not seem adequate for the number of rooms at this hotel. If the hotel is busy, I recommend parking your car in the parking lot before sundown if you need a space that is close to one of the hotel doors.

We were unable to get reservations inside the Park during a recent visit to the South Rim. The Best Western was conveniently located just outside the park and made for an excellent place from which to visit the South Rim. There are very few restaurants nearby the hotel, but we were glad to have good choices under the same roof, especially after hiking all day in the canyon.

The breakfast buffet in the morning was very substantial and a welcome start to a long day of being outdoors.

The only downside to staying outside the park is that you won't feel like returning in the evening for the programs led by the park rangers.

Dear Virginia Z,
We are glad that you selected our hotel for your stay. As you mention, we are conveniently located just outside the entrance to the park which makes our hotel an excellent choice. We are glad that you enjoyed the restaurants in the hotel for your dining. Also, with our complimentary breakfast buffet, we do offer a wide variety of hot and cold items as well as fresh fruit. This is a nice start to the day to keep you going through your hiking and exploring activities.

We hope that if your family visits the Grand Canyon again, that you will consider staying with us.

A very well run hotel and very large and comfortable rooms and the bed was sooo comfortable!
It is perfectly located for a trip to the Grand Canyon... we booked their largest suite and it was fabulous! They have a great little bar and game room with a bowling alley downstairs and my husband and I had a great time playing air hockey, pinball & ms. pac man every night to unwind after hiking all day!
Finding a place to park is a bit challenging, but we managed to park close every evening, behind one of the wings and walk the short path back to the main lobby ... Breakfast buffet was wonderful... lots of fresh options to eat... they even had raisin bread!
We would absolutely stay again...it really was the perfect location for our trip! Staff is friendly and helpful and our stay was enjoyable!

Room Tip: we stayed in a very large suite 4217... a perfect room! although it is right off the lobby it was...
