I read all the reviews here before I booked a hotel for our Grand Canyon trip which we just had. What I understood that there are two types of room : standard and deluxe. My anticipation was that all the complaints were against standard room. So I called the 1-800 number for this room and booked a deluxe room. I chatted with the receptionist for a while and figured out that the standard room is not a good one. It's in the adjacent building without an elevator. So I did not want to spoil my vacation and went for the deluxe one. It was an excellent choice. The room was very neat and large. The bathroom was clean too and had a huge marble bathtub. It was a good bargain for $94 (including tax) off-season rate. The hotel lobby itself was beaufiful and the staffs were helpful, courteous and professional. Also the continental breakfast was a good one too. We had everything excellent. I am just so impressed with this hotel that if I go there again I am going to stay again in this hotel.

We would have preferred to stay at El Tovar or Bright Angel inside the canyon, but since they were booked we ended up here. We booked on their internet site and got a good rate, and had coupons for the continental breakfast buffet each morning (mini-bagels, fruits, toast, soda/juices/coffee, a few other pastries), no problems in getting our rate or the breakfast (just make sure you take the coupons with you).
The hotel was clean and quiet, though a 15-20 minute drive from the Grand Canyon, so it took longer then I had thought to "commute" everyday. We had rooms in the 2000 building, which meant a 5 minute walk from the lobby out the doors in the back and then across a small lot to a separate building. If I had to stay in Tusayan again rather then in the park I would return here, but request to be in the main building.
