“Nice clean hotel near the Canyon.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012 via mobile

If you want to stay close to the canyon, in an inexpensive hotel, this is for you. Breakfast buffet was nice, (only frustration was after I had paid and tipped I found that service charge was automatically added so I tipped twice) HBO in the room. Outdoor pool- too cold in April, indoor Jacuzzi. 10 mins away from the canyo .

The last time this hotel was updated was at best 1960. Everything is very worn, peeled or chipped, and depressing. Poor soundproofing too and way overpriced for what you get. We didn't eat at the restaurant, which also looked overpriced. The concierge was very helpful. We ate at the Bet Western one night, and it looked much better.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.

It was the only place left with rooms when I looked to book online. The best bit about it are the friendly restaurant staff, the shampoo and body lotion. We were 2 adults and 2 teens. I had booked a deluxe room - with two queens. When I checked in they said they had upgraded us to a suite - begs to wonder what the other rooms were like. The hotel is spread out - motel style so you have to walk out and about 2-3 blocks to get to the reception and restaurant. Pool is really small and overlooks the parking lot. They give you discounts to eat there - no worse than the other restaurants in town, but for the price the food is bad. You really get the feel that because of its location at the mouth of the Canyon - they don't have to make much effort. I heard good reviews about the Best Western, which seemed way nicer from what we saw, only it was fully booked.

I booked this 'resort' based on the photos on line - very deceiving - I cannot believe they have the audacity to call themselves a resort and charge the prices they do! They get away with it only because of demand- the Grand Canyon has very few hotels compared to the number of visitors. The rooms were very dated, dark and depressing. The towels and bedding were very poor in quality. The Best Western would be a better option.

Room Tip: I doubt there is a decent, quiet room in the place.

If you are expecting a true resort experience, do not stay here!
On the plus side, staff were friendly and beds were comfortable. However, our room was
accessed by an outside hall only, which necessitated our going outside to get to the lobby and restaurant. The room was small, cramped and dark, the only window looking out on an atrium lounge and hot tub area. The noise and hot tub smells were most unpleasant. Had we paid half of what we did I might have been less critical, however I will not stay here again.
We paid an exorbitant rate for a miserable experience.

Stayed here mid February. This is a great resort very close to Grand Canyon entrance. Its literally about 8 minutes from Grand Canyon entrance. Upon arrival we were immediately upgraded to a master suite without me even asking for it. Room was nice. It had a separate living room, microwave, refrigerator, and two TVs. Very clean and plenty of pillows, covers and towels. Heater worked great. Free WiFi included. Restaurant in lobby, pool on premises. Plenty of parking. Very close to nearby restaurants and movie theater(1 block). I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade. Ground floor rooms are excellent if you have a lot of gear to carry. Parking is n...

This was a very average hotel - not much different than a middle of the road Holiday Inn. The room was ok - clean and basic but not very updated.

Positive:
The beds were comfortable and the room was clean.
Heater worked well.
Staff was very friendly.

Negative:
PRICE (I really expected more for this price)
The beds are full sized - not queens, but I knew this when reserving.
Our 1st floor room opened up to the parking lot and the sliding door wasn't hung well on the track. My husband and son worked on trying to get it in correctly so the freezing cold air wouldn't come into our room.
There was no safety lock on the doors and the hallway doors weren't secure.

We didn't use the shower or eat at the hotel, so I can't comment on these things.
