“Terrible Terrible Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2009

The grounds were beautiful and out second suite was very very nice. The first one was not. Had to be moved (late at night) because of a mouse problem. Funny smell (musty) all thru the Resort. The best thing about our stay was the lotion left in the room. The staff was terrible and need to take some training in CUSTOMER SERVICE. Not what we expected.... Nothing to do in Tubac and I do mean nothing!!!!!

My two sisters and I went to Tubac Golf Resort for a getaway. The first suite we checked into was ok, not like we had pictured when we checked out their website. Upon settleing in our suite we found we had an univited guest, a mouse. We called the front desk and they said they weren't aware of a rodent problem (which was not true as there was already a mouse trap behind the couch). Maintanance arrived and all he did was put down two more traps. Only per our request did they clean up the mouse droppings. We decided to sit on the patio and enjoy the evening. We were only there a short time when our uninvited guest (the mouse) joined us and ran across the patio. We called the front desk again and after some discussion they recultantly agreed to move us to another suite. (They never offered to move us, we had to request it) They did send someone to help us move. The second suite was much nicer. It was up to their pictures on the web. Although, after we were in the suite awhile we discovered there were quite a few insects staying with us. We had to shake out our towels before using them and make sure we wore our shoes. Since the hour was late at we decided to wait until the morning to bring this to their attention. In the morning we stopped at the front desk and they told us the insects were due to being in the desert and the rain they had been experincing..We all live in the desert and this was not the case! The gentleman we spoke to at the front desk could care less about our problem. He never apologized and said he said he would "see" if they could find time to come and spray the suite. We went to Tubac to see the "artisian shopping " they raved about on the web. Ha! Most of the shops were closed and the ones that were open left a lot to be desired! But that's another story...Back to the resort...When we arrive back at our suite they left us a message that they had an exterminator spray. (No one ever checked back with us to see if this solved the problem, or if there was anything else they could help us with.) Although, we did not have any insects after that. We did use the services at the spa and were charged an extra "spa charge" that was not discloded before we used the service. It was not noted in the pamplet that was in our suite, only in the spa's pamplet, as we pointed out to them when we questioned this charge. This practive of hidden charges is not any way to handle a professional business. We had a special, stay three nights and get the fourth night free...After the third night we decided not to stay the fourth. The front desks respone to checking out early was, "Oh" , and after some discussion they did agree to give us a reduction in the price. They were never concerned they were losing customers or try to make any offer to make our stay more enjoyable. They really need to work on their customer service, it's not like we were staying at a cheap hotel! We were definetly dissappointed and not impressed with any part of the "resort"!

We do at times have some uninvited guests, i.e. mice and insects, but we also are very proactive with pest control on a weekly bases to the entire resort with all rooms checked daily for any problems. Our front desk staff is one of the best I have worked with and go out of their way to treat all guests with respect and try to honor all resonable requests.

The spa charge was a gratuity charge and was stated at the spa reception desk at check-in.

All guests complains are personally handled by myself and our main goal is service and guest satisfaction.

My husband and two children come down to Tubac every year to visit my parents who winter down there. The resort is very clean and the property is kept up well. There is a little pool which is usually not very busy. My husband and others in our group golfed on the course several days and tell me it is maintained awesome, but very expensive. Try Palo Verde about 10 miles south for half the price. This is a great place to stay for adults, but I would recommend finding a different resort if you are bringing your young children. It seems like a lot of the older folks don't really appreciate them here. (Not just at the hotel, but also in surrounding Green Valley area)

We stayed at the Tubac Golf Resort for 2 nights. This was not our first visit and we tried one of the newly remodeled rooms, the Hacienda King.
The room was lovely and comfortable: comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with a jacuzzi (did not try it) and a walk-in shower, comfortable leather seats, plasma TV, fans, silent air conditioning. Very clean.

We ate twice at the Stables restaurant and have no complaints. Food and service were good.

We also tried the Spa. No complaint with the treatments which were good. But the locker rooms could use some attention. The products in the showers were empty. And the robes are terrible, transparent and have a funny smell. Considering this is Tubac, not Scottsdale or Canyon Ranch, this was a good experience.

Our only disappointment was with the internet. We had called before to make sure it is available. We own a business and have to stay “connected” one way or another. They said that WiFi is available all around the resort, no problem. Good. Except that it did not work and that nobody was rushing to get it fixed. I guess their average customers, retired golfers and newlyweds, are not too concerned about the internet. They still proposed us to use their business center with a wired connection. Not as comfortable as having it in our room, yet it helped.

If we ever come back to Tubac, we will definitely stay again at the Tubac Golf Resort.

Tubac is a quaint, beautiful village brimming with history and art and the resort itself was georgeous, like an oasis in the desert! We found the Hacienda rooms to be very well appointed with jacuzzi tubs and patios with spectacular views of the golf course. The food as well was excellent, and we highly recommend Dos Siles restaurant. We ordered the fish tacos and carnitas and found the food to be an unique take on traditional mexican cuisine.
The staff at the resort was very helpful and accomodating, and always ready with a smile. However, we did find the older british woman at the front desk to be very different from the rest of the staff at the resort. She should take a que from her fellow employees at the front desk and learn to smile. While everyone else was ready and willing to help us with any inquiries or questions, she made us feel as though we were inconveniencing her whenever we asked for help. Her sour expression and abrupt manner were the only sore point of our stay, everything else was wonderful.

We just returned from a 2 night stay at Tubac Golf Resort....what a fantastic resort!! It was very quiet and relaxing....we stayed in the "Hacienda King" which is the newest rooms at Tubac. The bed was sooo comfortable and the bathroom was extremely large with a jacuzzi tub. The employees at the resort were all wonderful and very helpful!! The food at Dos Silos was awesome...best mexican food I have ever ate. We do not play golf but took a cart out and toured the course.....beautiful!! Highly recommend the town of Tubac for a day of shopping at their great art galleries. My only regret was staying in Phoenix for a few days instead of not directly driving to Tubac and staying at the resort a few more days. A special thank you to all for making our stay in Tubac one of the greatest most relaxing vacations......we will be back!!

We went down for a weekend getaway and were thrilled with the property and all that it had to offer. The best thing was the service - it was outstanding no matter where you were on the property. The food was great at Stables restaurant and we even had an outdoor fireplace to ourselves both nights with a table in front of it. The golf course was great, plays pretty quick if you aren't waiting on anyone. And the grounds were well kept, clean and beautiful. The only small problem we had was that the fire place in our room didn't work the first night and when we called about it, no one could fix it so we had to wait for the next day to get it fixed. As well, the front desk staff could use some review on area attractions/directions, but were friendly overall. I would definitely recommend and plan to go back.
