We ate at Elvira's for a late lunch recently. The restaurant was moderately crowded at 3:00pm and filled approaching the five o'clock hour, therefore, I would recommend securing a reservation.
This restaurant was located for many years in Nogales, Sonora Mexico about 20 miles south prior to moving north to Tubac. Our party of four tried two different chili rellano offerings and two ordered the chicken enchilladas in a verde sauce. All dishes were rated as "outstanding". The sides of rice and beans were out of the ordinary. The rice consisted of a mixture of white and wild rice and fresh minced vegetables. The rice brought rave reviews. We had ordered guacamole as an appetizer and the large portion of fresh avocado and tomato was wolfed down by the group. The service was attentive and the plates were most attractive. The prices may be higher than one might expect, but "you get what you pay for".
We chose Elvira's on a whim and were very fortunate to have found another favorite Mexican restaurant in Arizona that offered outstanding faire. Do yourself a favor and try Elvira's in Tubac , Arizona south of Tucson off Interstate-19.
