“Great views and fun staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

Hotel Fe is a great option for a backpacker looking for value and fun. Located near the main dock in San Pedro, Hotel Fe offers some of the most stunning views of Lake Atitlan, and in particular, Indians Nose.
The rooms are basic, but super cheap for a private space, and even cheaper for a dorm. There is wifi throughout and common areas to kick back and relax.
The staff are what makes this place a gem though. We had four great days and nights hanging out with Mike, Gabe, Steve and Stu at the restaurant, and they certainly know how to take care of their guests. Next time we will beat you in beer pong - I'll make sure of that!
Thanks for a great time in San Pedro, and I will be spreading the word about this place!

Fantastic location with stunning views of the lake. Good value rooms and a good restaurant with a curry night and full english breakfast for Brits missing home! The best part about this hotel are the staff who made us feel extremely welcome organising trips, transport and fancying themselves as pretty good beer pong players!

Rooms are clean, and an incredibly friendly staff will help you with anything you need. The attached bar and restaurant serves great food, and the bar is a fun spot to meet other travelers and have fun night. Also, no better way to start your day then eating breakfast overlooking Lago Atitlan!

My friend and I spent three days at Fe, and we had an absolute blast. The location is perfect, overlooking the lake, just a 2 minute walk to the center of the gringo section of town. The rooms are very basic, but at $13 a night, a great value. The restaurant food is surprisingly fantastic. The free breakfast included with the room is the best ive ever had amongst the free breakfasts of the hostel world. The pizza was excellent, as was the all you can eat curry buffet.
But, the real reason to stay at Fe is for the fun. Owner Mike, and his staff Gabe and Aussie Steve treat you like family. Actually, more like pledges in the nightly frat party that is San Pedro. They have a platform you can jump into the lake from, and get a free shot when you climb out. They will drop whatever theyre doing to beat you at beer pong anytime. They have a challenging Friday Quiz night. They will hand out a round of shots for the house at random moments. And when Fe empties out, theyll close up and bar hop with you to the rest of San Pedro. Thanks for the fun guys!

I recently went to Hotel (hostel) Fe with a friend while backpacking through Guatemala. We arrived at our room and it was the most you could expect for a cheap hostel: two twin beds. bathroom. The sheets had small holes and although they looked "clean" they also looked at least 20 years old. There was no hot water in the shower, which of course required sandals (this we were expecting and were fine with). MAIN POINT: My friend woke up the next morning with a couple bites. She then saw a BED BUG crawling on the wall next to her bed. Throughout the day more and more bites appeared on her body from head to toe. When we looked closer at the beds, we saw a plastic cover on my mattress, whereas hers had none. This led us to believe Fe was aware of the problem but did not take the necessary precautions. The staff are very friendly and helpful (though we had to wait until about 12:30 pm for them to wake), and the view from the bar area is beautiful. That being said, a hotel has the responsibility of protecting their guests from bed bugs, regardless of the price. My friend itched for the remainder of the trip. Dirty. NOT RECOMMENDED.
