I stayed here with some friends the middle of March 2012. We were here on a Yoga Retreat. The resort itself is beautiful, nestled into the side of the mountain. The view from your room is second to none, volcanoes and lake providing breathtaking views!! The rooms were nice and decorated in area decor and materials and the beds were quite comfortable. There are no tv's here, however internet was $20 for the week and the reception was farily good. The resort is eco friendly which means water is heated by solar power, so sometimes the hot water took a bit of extra work on overcast days. The spa facilities were nice. I had a full body massage (1hr) by Linda which was heavenly!! I also had an organic facial which was also very enjoyable and both were reasonably priced at $55. The temples are beautiful. The food was all vegetarian (fish & chicken was available by request) and I was skeptical I would be satisfied, but it was delicious and there was a wide variety of food daily. It really was great and authentic. The transportation around the area is by boat. The local boats are about $2 each way and run about every 15 minutes. Local private boats are available for hire for about $25. The local towns and villages are beautiful and we felt very safe travelling around in the Lake Atitlan area. The gift shop was full of beautiful items made by local artisans. Panajachel was also a great shopping area for local wares. Wendy the hotel owner was always on hand to offer advice. The staff was very friendly, but few speak english. The managers will arrange your private or group shuttle to Antigua or Guatemala City, they are also very reasonably priced. All in all it was a great trip. I will definatley return to the area.
