My extended family went to Laguna Lodge between Christmas and New Year's in December 2010. There were eleven of us -- ranging in age from 12 to 75 -- and we all had a spectacular time. The lodge is stunningly beautiful in a simple, earthy way, the staff could not have been more helpful and the food was delicious! We spent four days there and I wish it had been a week. We explored many of the lake towns by boat, went cliff jumping with Jeffro (the owner), took sunset kayaks, late night hot tubs, played chess, read books, watched movies in their movie theater. Everything was perfect, perfect, perfect. I would recommend this lodge to anyone and everyone!

Laguna Lodge,on Lake Attilan is the ideal retreat to recharge oneself , ideally one should stay at least 3-4 days , but even a shorter time will restore oneself . The owners and staff are there to help in anyway possible, the meals are vegetarian and very hardy (you will not miss meat for the time you are there)and you feel good that they are growing most that you are consuming. Oh , I must not forget their margaritas are the very best, accommodations could not be more comfortable. I have now been there twice , it is a destination that I look forward too whenever I am in Guatemala, a country that is fiercely holding on to their beautiful culture.I strongly suggest taking the time to explore Lake Attilan and visit its many highland villages . Then go on to Antigua , a beautiful colonial town with a lot of history , many fine places to stay and very good resta urants. Only 45minutes to the airport. The combination of the 2 locations makes for an ideal vacation.

Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort, located in Santa Cruz La Laguna, a charming small town at Lake Atitlan , is one of the most beautiful and charming places I have ever been. Every single last detail had been thought through in the designing and planning of this beautiful masterpiece.... I have stayed there a couple of times, is a perfect getaway, as well as an INCREDIBLE choice for a honeymoon spot or perhaps a proposal. :)
The manager's name is Juan Manuel, and he is friendly, helpful and very accessible! His staff which is conformed by locals from the village, made us feel in perfect harmony all the time.
The view is absolutely MAJESTIC. There are different terraces in different levels facing the lake and the volcanoes. The view specially from each single room , as well from the restaurant, is breathtaking which is the perfect place to watch the sunset while having a coffee or a glass of wine with an appetizer. The service is impeccable. Food which is gourmet vegetarian cuisine is very good. The cost of food and drinks is appropriate for a "luxury" hotel. You'll be charmed by every precious element of the hotel- everything created with local elements, details as furniture, lanterns, the chairs, the side tables, the art, the tiles in the bathroom… EVERYTHING is exquisite taste!!

Laguna Lodge is all that is says and more. A stunning location on the lake, incredible (!!!) food, breathtaking views and impeccable service. The spa is to die for, designed in pebbles in a little alcove of hanging vines. My only wish was that we had stayed longer!
