Great spot tucked away in Jaibalito. Exotic cactus garden. Great food. Great view. Huge rooms with Wi-fi. 5 minute walk from a restaurant with a pool and hot tub. There is also a beautiful hiking trail to Santa Cruz that starts in front of the lodge.

In January 2014 we came to Vulcano Lodge for three nights, stayed twelve and returned in March for another four nights before going home to England. Of all the places during our two months travelling around Guatemala, Southern Mexico and Belize, this gem of a small hotel was our favourite.

To walk up the winding path through the beautiful, calm and lovingly tended garden, was a treat and there was always a warm welcome from Gustuv the charming new owner and his delightful manageress, Elizabeth. The rest of their team were helpful and attentive too, especially the young man, Walter.

The rooms were clean and spacious with a good hot shower, soft towels, a comfortable bed and fresh
flowers.

Breakfast was our favourite time of the day. It was calm and serene sitting on a comfortable seat at a table
surrounded by orchids and humming birds, whilst in the evening, the healthy, delicious four course meal was served in the atmospheric, candle lit dining room at a 'family table' (or on your own if you preferred) by the courteous and polite staff.

A big THANK YOU to everyone at Vulcano. We enjoyed every minute of our time at your splendid retreat and highly recommend it.We hope to return in the future.

So, i'm going in to my last night at Vulcano Lodge.. And I don't want to leave. Feeling kinda sad about it. This little place is so charming and beautiful! The suite has the most amazing view over the lake and the vulcanos, and it feels unreal! The staff is so welcoming and makes you feel really at home. They take you in, and helps you with whatever you need. The owner, Gustav, is one of a kind. This norwegian guy has really found his place. He is super generous and helpful. With so much knowledge and so many contacts he can fix anything for you! The city and other towns are just a short boattrip away, and it's super easy. I'm backpacking, so i have many others places to see. But something tells me I will be back :) This is not a "goodbye", it's a "I see you again!" Lots of love

Stopped in Jaibalito for the day and ended up having lunch at here. Very peaceful and secluded location. Would love to come back and stay in one of the rooms sometime. The views from the balconies were amazing.

Our stay at Vulcano Lodge was amazing. We had a really good time her from beginning til end. The first two nights we lived in the suite, wich was incredible. The view from here over the lake and vulcanos was beautiful. Then we moved down to a smaller room, where we lived in the garden, wich was also really nice. Love the staff! Great food, specily at night where the guests gathers around a longtable and just talk and get to know eachother. Gustav (the owner) is very welcoming and help you with anything you need. He is so generous, nice and great to have a chat with.
Nearby there is great things to do. Take a walk to the closest cities, go to Pana to shop, rent a kajakk or paraglide.
Love this place, and hopefully i'll be back. :)

Gustavs hotel, vulcano lodge, is a little bit of paradise! Jaibalito itself is kind of noisy, but it's part of the culture and experience, with all the churches playing music and the kids in the streets. It did not ruin my stay here at all! Gustav is a fantastic host and his staff is so nice! If you have any questions or anything you need help with, Gustav will be there in a second. The hotel is clean and tidy and they invite all the guests for a three course dinner at noght, all joined together! That's a great experience if you want to meet new people!
When it comes to location, it's very good. Short boatrides to get to other villages and has great hiking opportunities.
All together, a great hotel with a great owner, I do not want to leave.

Room Tip: If you would like a great view, the suite is the best choice, with a view over the vulcanoes and the...

One of the best stays we had in Guatemala. Great location, beautiful rooms with terrace, excellent restaurant, staff unbelievably charming (Gustav the owner is a treat, and Roman who manages the restaurant is a jazz fan and plays the best music). Can't say enough good things, this place should be called the "Good Karma" lodge, but Vulcano Lodge will do.
