Legend has it that Sir Francis Drake buried treasure on a beach in Drake Bay. We didn't find any sunken gold, but we did find a treasure of a resort in Jinetes de Osa! I wonder if this was what Hawaii was like many many years ago - undeveloped beaches, unspoiled rain forest right outside your door. Jinetes de Osa is a small, very intimate hotel perched on the edge of a beautiful and quiet beach in Drake Bay. Lisa, Jack, Jessica and all the staff were friendly, professional, and quick to see to it that we had everything we needed. What did we need? A real vacation far, far from jobs, TV, phones, noise, and the frantic busyness of modern life. We got that and much more. We ate simple, delicious meals served at long tables where we enjoyed laughter and conversation with other guests. The small bar was a great place to recount the days' adventures - hiking, diving or snorkeling. The evenings were for salsa dance lessons or quiet moonlit walks on the beach, and then a comfortable bed and the sounds of the surf to lull us to sleep. Early every morning we looked forward to the antics of the monkeys bent on stealing sugar from coffee trays set outside our door. They were a riot! We experienced scuba diving for the first time and saw white-tipped sharks, moray eels and stingrays. Fabulous! We went horseback riding and hiking to a remote and beautiful waterfall. My husband want on the tour at Corcovado and was very impressed with the wild life and the tour guide. It was ALL good. We would recommend it highly.
