“Without hesitation, stay here :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Ivan greeted us from the speedboat, when we landed in Drake Bay. He carried our cases over the rocks, and then on to the hotel.

From the minute that we stepped on the premises, we were made to feel welcome, comfortable and valued.

All of our food was provided, and it was great. For evening meals, we were served fish, beef stroganoff, and a chicken lasagne. Every portion was more than enough, delicious, and came with salad and rice. We received ice cream, cheesecake, and toffee cake for deserts.

Breakfasts were excellent as well. Eggs made to order (I had mine scrambled, with ham and cheese) were delicious.

If you organise trips through the hotel the starts are early, but there is always a big thermos of coffee waiting for you outside the hotel room for the minute you wake up. A really charming touch, that started the day off brilliantly.

Rooms are spotless, and the bathroom was big, with a hot shower. Perfect for after a long hike in the jungle :)

One piece of advice - REMEMBER to take sea sickness pils with you. These are very important. My father was very ill on the journey to our snorkel, which could have been avoided had we thought to bring the tablets.

A brilliant stay. Patrick the manager/owner (?) runs a very tight ship.

Room Tip: REMEMBER ear plugs and sea sickness tablets. They are both crucial.

I vacationed with my father and son for a couple days at Jinetes de Osa. It was a great location/base for scuba diving from Cano Island and to visit Corcovado park. Our first day at this hotel we were visited with white-faced monkeys jumping all over our roof. It was so much fun to watch. My father sat on our balcony one day while I was scuba diving and saw the scarlet macaws fly right by as well. We had a great view of the ocean from our room and the balcony had protection so that we could enjoy the scenery while it was raining hard outside. Rooms are as clean as can be expected for being in the jungle and they are spacious. The staff worked very hard to make sure that all our needs were taken care of and went out of their way to be kind to us. They noticed one night that my father and son weren't coming down to dinner because my son wasn't feeling well. So they offered to take dinner to the room for us. This is just one of the nice things that they did for my family. Our three meals were paid for in advance and this worked out really well. They coordinate meal times with everyone's schedule. They really give out large portions of food, so I never went away hungry. I did two days of scuba diving with them and had a wonderful time both days. They also were our guides in Corcovado and I felt that they did a wonderful job taking us around. They have a great walking path at the hotel to view wildlife from as well. Would highly recommend this hotel and if I get the opportunity to come back to Costa Rica, I will for sure be spending some time here!

My young children and I enjoyed a lot the hotel and all the services in general. The staff was Super friendly and helpful. The food was amazingly delicious. The hotel is surrounded by pure tropical nature with a wonderful ocean view. the access to the ocean was super easy and safe for my young children. I will go back for sure.

We really enjoyed our stay at Jinetes de Osa. We left our car in Sierpe and took Jinetes' boat to Drake Bay. The passage from the Sierpe river to the ocean was very exciting to say the least. Everyone at the hotel was really nice and extremely helpful. The hotel arranged for a couple of excursions to Isla del Caño and the Corcovado National Park with exceptional guides. Diving at Isla del Caño was fantastic!

Jinetes de Osa has one of the best prices for a great vacation in Drake Bay. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and the service is excellent. They feed us so much we could not eat all the food served and the meals are 5 stars! They would get us coffee through out the day anytime we asked for, and this area is a great get away for all purposes. Highly recommended! Steps from the beach.

We happened upon Jinetes at the end of a long beach hike and we are so glad we did. Checked out of the place we were staying and checked in here the next day. The property itself is irresistibly charming in a ramshackle 'Robinson Crusoe' kind of way. The ocean is practically at your feet even from the room. It really is incredibly special. All the food (3 meals a day included!) is lovingly prepared and delicious. This place attracts guests of all types and age ranges...each of them very cool and friendly, it's just that kind of place. Arranging tours through the hotel is effortless but I didn't even care to leave the upstairs open air lounge (where we were visited a few times by very curious monkeys). The staff is laid back in the best possible way. They are super friendly but also absolute professionals. You don't need to worry about a single thing. (not even the scorpion in our room which was removed by the valiant and fearless Carlos!) The manager Patrick and everything man Giovanni were our main hosts and have that way of making you feel instantly at ease and free to do as you please. If you need them though they are there. Nature Air changed our flight time at the last minute which messed up all our connections and Patrick got everything back in line for us in a stress free minute. That's just one example of how well you're taken care of here. Thanks to the whole staff for such a great time. We cant wait to come back. Sincerely, Bill&Marcus.

Drake Bay was remote and beautiful and Jinetes de Osa was in a wonderful location. All the staff, especially Giovanni and Maritsa, were so very helpful and friendly day in and day out with everyone! The trips were amazing, guides were informative and fun.We saw all kinds of animals and fish. We also really enjoyed the group dinners and sharing stories about our day adventures and other travels. Food was ample and decent. We had a great jungle vacation.

Room Tip: get superior room they are much nicer. rooms are not sound proof but lovely sound of waves help a lo...
