“Stunning Nature Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

We booked 4 nights here for a family vacation and loved it. From pick up at the Drake Bay airport there is a short car ride and river crossing to the boat that ferries you to Copa de Arbol resort. On the boat ride over the escorts took a short detour into an inlet to show us some lovely views and wildlife (great photo ops) before continuing along the coastline to the beach landing at the resort. My husband walks with canes but there was plenty of help on hand to help him off the boat. We loved the setting and the accommodations are lovely and very comfortable. There are hammocks on the lower level and a porch with seating for enjoying the views from your upstairs rooms. Spacious and comfy. The food was very good and plentiful, enough to keep you energized during the tours and activities. We rounded out our arrival day with a trip to San Josecito beach for lunch and snorkeling. Some of our members did the Corcovado hike with naturalist guide,José, who was very knowledgeable (they saw tapir !). The kids raved about the Caño Island snorkel trip and on the boat ride over they had close encounters with dolphins and humpback whales (whale season is Aug-Nov. We were there at the very beginning of August). The staff is personable and very attentive. We enjoyed our stay immensely, which unfortunately was cut short for two of us because my husband dislocated his artificial hip (not an accident, just happened spontaneously) and had to be evacuated to a hospital in San José. Mike and his crew organized a stretcher and group of people to carry him to the boat for the trip to the waiting ambulance in Sierpe which the resort had arranged. Our adult son and niece stayed behind and enjoyed the rest of the tours and activities. We all agree, we can't wait to go back. The setting is stunning, and there is so much to do for nature lovers. We even enjoyed the light show that the lightening bugs put on one evening. So relaxing! We all agreed, we can hardly wait to go back. Thanks Mike, Orlando, and the rest of the team for showing us such a good time and taking such good care of us. We'll be back!

Coba de Arbol is absolutely stunning! So much has already been said in past reviews but I'll just add to it.

Our family of 6, wife, myself and four children have been traveling around the world the past 11 summers and the Coba de Arbol is now one of our all-time favorites. Up there with our stay two summers ago at the Royal Mara Lodge in Kenya.
We stayed 4 nights and loved every minute there. The service was like feeling you'd just come home from a long trip and your best friends were there to greet you and take care of you.

Our four kids, ages 19, 17, 15 and 10 absolutely loved the employees, particularly, Randall and Orlando. Orlando helped me track down my daughters lost necklace she left behind in La Fortuna and made many calls and accepted many incoming calls to help with the search, It was literally above and beyond great service. Also, Jay was so kind and even let my 15 year old son use use surfboard.

We loved chilling in the most beautiful pool and hot tub, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking in the park with our guide Jose, going out to Cano island with Mauricio, they were both so knowledgeable and friendly.

We loved the food! Oh did we love the food. We've been home a couple weeks now and we're still talking about how much we loved the food and the dining atmosphere with the incredible views. Our kids didn't want to leave. That cookie jar is brilliant!

Our 17 year old daughter was asking how much it cost to stay there because she wants to save her money and go back on her own. That's how much we loved this place.

It's simply paradise, with 5 star service and accommodations in the Rainforest!

Recently stayed at Copa de Arbol for an anniversary getaway and already want to return. The accommodations, food and excursions were wonderful but what really made the place special was the people. Everyone went out of their way to make sure you were taken care of every day.
Would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in Teka #11, Very quiet and private at the edge of the property. Loved it.

We were picked up at the airport in Drake Bay by car and driven to the boat that took us to Copa De Arbol. The resort was secluded and very private, beautiful views, wonderful food (the chef accommodated our vegan diet, yay!). The day excursion to Corcovado National Park was amazing and our tour guide Steven was GREAT. We even saw a humpback whale with her calf as well as dolphins on the boat ride back.

Room Tip: We were in Bulgalow #9 Balsa. It was beachfront with amazing views.

Excellent location, very comfortable rooms ( except for lack of coat-hangers and a small refrigerator ! ), very good food, cosy atmosphere, friendly personnel.
Bare-foot approach to rooms and restaurant surprising but actually nice !

Room Tip: Some rooms in rain forest have nice views ( # 10 e.g. )

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It’s true that some of our rooms don’t have hangers, cabin 3 and 4 come to mind. When we built the place we simply overlooked closet space, a direct result of having a wardrobe that consisted of 3 t-shirts and 2 pairs of surf trunks that usually got thrown on the floor. Since then we have built closets in most units and provide shelf space in the places we couldn’t fit closets. Anyone concerned about this can contact our reservations manager, Summer and she will make sure you have a unit with hangers if you prefer that. Thanks for choosing Copa.

We spent 4 nights at Copa in early July with our two daughters (13 and 11). The cabins have a Balinese feel to them. Very comfortable (and air conditioned!). Loved sitting on the porch reading and gazing out at the ocean. The property itself is beautiful with lush vegetation, animals and birds, amazing views, and a fantastic pool and hot tub. With 11 cabins it's a very quiet and intimate setting that's great for couples and families.

We had a great time on the Corcovado tour. Saw toucans, Coati, Guan, an anteater, a cayman, peccaries, a Tapir, squirrel monkeys, Capuchins, Howlers, and more. Our guide, Jose, was knowledgeable and knew where to find everything. The waters around Cano Island are a gorgeous turquoise. We saw lots of fish, although we went out the day before a huge southern swell so the water was a bit rough.

The employees at Copa are fantastic. Mike and Jay were always pointing out wildlife. Juliette, Randall, and Orlando couldn't do enough for us. Jose and Tony got us everywhere we needed to go, even through downpours and rough waters. Would definitely go back! Make sure to fly into Parma Sur for the whole experience.

Room Tip: Not sure you could go wrong with any of the cabins. We were in Mango, which was close to the restaur...

I will always remember the swell that you mention as those were the biggest waves to hit the coast here in several years. Nature shows it’s power in many ways on the Osa; whether it be strong thunder and lighting storms or a giant swell like you experienced. I think the ever-changing weather is part of the experience and really reminds you who’s in charge. Thank you for posting this review we are glad you enjoyed the Osa Peninsula and your stay with us here at Copa De Arbol. Come back soon.

We recently stayed three nights in cabina Cacoa at the resort. Our first stop was the restaurant which was a wow in itself. The view to the bay was fantastic and the food was five star and all included as well as snacks at 5:00 and coffee and fresh baked cookies pretty much anytime.

All of the meals were served with style and class but in the middle of an isolated jungle setting.

The cabina was beautiful, clean, well appointed and comfortable. The ceiling fan on the porch was great for sitting outside in the afternoon and evening to enjoy the sunset and the sounds of the jungle.

The staff and the guides were fantastic. They were all informative and patient with our attempt at Spanish.

We did the tour into the Corcodova park which I would recommend but just know the boat ride to get there is about one hour and we left the resort at 6:00 AM.

My only regret was in leaving the resort. We should have stayed for a week,

I can relate to your feelings of regret when leaving the Osa Peninsula. I first came to the area like all of our guests, a curious visitor. The difference is I just couldn’t leave, I really had no choice in my mind but to find a way to stay and that’s how Copa De Arbol was born. Thanks for posting this review. We hope to see you again.
