“Heaven on earth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Costa Rica is a magical place by itself; but Guaria's staff, food, cozy rooms/ cabins made it really special. I was there as part of a ten day group retreat and had amazing experience learning and getting to know folks from all over the world. Great care was taken to cater to the guests for dietary and accommodation needs. The wildlife on the grounds and close ocean beach was amazing. You can even take part in the daily early morning "turtle watch" to save some of the most endangered species from poachers. And one of Costa Rica's greatest National Parks is a few hour's hike down the beach. There are many day trips and tours to explore the Osa Peninsula while you are staying at Guaria. But just hanging out at the beach and in the rainforest is very relaxing and rejuvenating. Definitely recommend this "piece of heaven on earth" to all....

Room Tip: All the rooms/ cabanas are quiet and cozy. I saw monkeys in the trees outside my window!

Guaria de Osa is by far one of the best possible places to stay on the osa pennisula. I have travelled extensively on the Osa and tried different accommodation types. I joined the Guaria de Osa group retreat and was amazed at the quality of service, the location, the wildlife conservation, and the other guests.

There is something magical about this place that seems to attract similar minded and appreciative people. The accommodations were very comfortable, the food was simply amazing, the staff made me feel like family, and the travels to and from were seamlessly organized.

After this retreat I know that anytime I come to the Osa this is the place I will stay.

Room Tip: There are nice bungalows near the beach, fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wind and wake up...

Guaria de Osa is truly the "Orchid of the Osa." The staff is friendly, the accommodations simple, and the spaces are beautifully constructed. The love and care that went into Guaria is palpable! Jonathan, the caretaker, is extremely knowledgable of local plants, and the surrounding nature is profoundly peaceful and invigorating.

Thanks Guaria for an uplifting and grounding retreat!

Ive come a few times to the Ossa. Each time I come I am over whelmed by the natural beauty of the area. The most bio diverse and oxygen rich spot on earth, right on the pacific. During summer, afternoon rains and thunder make you realize that new species are literally being born around you. Getting away from electronic noise and commotion, such as roads and cars and planes and tv etc....there are not many such places in the world. COme get healthy natural foods prepared without preservatives and chemicals...this is a place to experience nature in Costa Rica. And that is afterall why you are coming to this part of th world...

For someone whose normal experience with nature is a walk around city park this was certainly an unforgettable experience. I was very lucky in that I happened to be the only guest at the time (beginning of June) which resulted in plenty of attention and personal service -- which I have to believe is just as good when Guaria is full of guests. Jonathon was busy finishing up his book, which I know is hectic, but still found time to chat and make sure I had everything I needed. There was so much that I had to occupy my time that a second trip will be necessary and much anticipated for next year. This place was truly an amazing experience for an adult -- it should be just as great or even better experience for kids/families. The food was terrific -- what an amazing thing to be able to pick various fruits going to and from the beach and bring them back to be prepared as part of the meals! I can't say enough about this place other than I know I will be back despite a whole world of travel/vacation options! You must check out their website for more details -- too little space to talk about here!

Room Tip: be aware there is no hot water for showers -- but I think you'll find (like I did) that the cool...

There is a sense that you are living in nature but your back doesn't hurt and you're always sated with delicious food that appears with a gong. Host Jonathan had a vision of bringing the miracle of the peninsula to the world, one guest at a time, and he has made it a reality. The staff is wonderful. Nothing gets between you and your experience of the place. I will never forget swimming down the Rio Claro, drinking the water is was so pure, looking up at the canopy with toucans and monkeys looking back. I have never had such a magical week. I am taking my kids there next year.

I went to Guaria de Osa two years ago and repeated my visit on december 2012. This place is amazing! it provides the best environment for all ages, including families and kids. Visitors will experience a very peaceful setting in full contact with nature. There, you have many options to spend your time. It includes swimming in rivers and natural pools, walks on the beach, ridding horses, or visiting the amazing and untouched rainforest and parks.
If you are looking for a place where you really can relax and recharge your batteries, this is the place to go.
I went with a group and our activities included yoga and meditation sessions. Guaria de Osa is an excellent place to host group retreats.
