“Worth the drive up the hill, bring your appetite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

If you like very good wings and rum, this is a must visit place when in the Dominical area. About a kilometer or two up a steep hill, perched on the mountan, you will find a very cool wings joint. They had a bunch of different flavors and the one I had was sort of a sweet chili, garlic wing. Big plate of them and several rum drinks to properly wash them down. DELICIOUS ! Thanks Wayne !

“Great wings, burgers and view.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

This place is ex-pat surfer heaven, with an amazing view of the Pacific and Cano Island, an all inspiring variety of buffalo wings and very good burgers. Also one of the better dining values the area.

“Wings and Beer and Jungle Mountain Driving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Perched high above the ocean at the end of a steep dirt track the Jolly Roger is one of those places you cannot quite believe exists. I say that only because I feel that many would simply not take the time to drive up the hill but I can assure you that it is absolutely worth the effort and that it is all part of the fun.

My wife and I visited Jolly Roger twice on our stay in Dominical and enjoyed each time very much. The food is simple but excellent (the menu is on a blackboard and consists mainly of wings and burgers but there are some other items, too). The wings we ordered were as good as anything you will find in the U.S. and because my wife is gluten free they even made some without flour. I cannot tell you how much we appreciated this. The second visit we ordered a burger and they were both really excellent. There is no need to order fries separatly because it comes with fries (we didn't know so looked like right pigs when the fries arrived, too. Not to worry, who doesn't want more fries, right?) The beer and drinks are great and the host is extremely welcoming and you just feel right at home.

I would say one thing again about the drive. You absolutely need a four wheel drive to get up the hill. Also, try to go around sunset because the views looking out are fantastic. I hear there is also a big deal made of the Superbowl when that is on so I would imagine there is no other place to be.

“Way out of the way but worth it!”

Great local hangout for gringos. The wings are fantastic and it's a fun place to have a few cold ones.

“Unexpected Taste of Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

After a tough drive to get to a house we had rented at the top of the hill - my friends and their kids needed a break. The Jolly Roger was an amazing suprise - the chicken wings are some of the best I have ever had, the view is lovely, and the vibe is mellow but happy. The staff do their best to make you feel at home and relaxed.

True - it is not authentic Costa Rican cuisine - but they don't pretend to be anything else but what they are: an easying going US style watering hole. Costa Rica is a really fantastic place to visit, and the Jolly Roger embraces the warm weather and the warmth of the locals - but with delicous wings!
