“Cannot say enough good things”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011

We stayed in the Bosque en el Cielo for our honeymoon earlier this month and cannot say enough good things about it. It was better than we could have imagined. Alex and Grace were on vacation during our stay but made sure that we were well taken care of by their groundskeeper, Jose and the rest of the staff. The house was incredible and well stocked with anything we could have needed or wanted. We loved being able to wake up to the sounds of birds, watching the toucans and the monkeys play in the trees, and then being lulled to sleep by the sounds of frogs at night. We will absolutely be back again.

Our stay at Manu Villas was absolutely exquisite. If there is anything remotely like it elsewhere in Costa Rica I would be surprised. The setting, the facilities, the privacy, the ambiance, the food, the owners'attention to our comfort and details are beyond compare and all the superlatives I can think of fall miles short. Quite simply a place to go if you want to rest, relax and partake in the true luxuries of life. Not easy to find means you are in a secluded and unique part of the world. Fauna, flora and views to the coast that are unrivalled elsewhere we travelled through Central America. I cannot think of a better place to be pampered and soak up life's greatest indulgences.

Room Tip: The Balinese Villas are extraordinarily beautiful.

Alex and Grace were amazing hosts. Their Balinese style houses are peaceful and zen-like. I spent all morning watching the hummingbirds buzzing over the pool. Grace is the best cook in Central America!

Room Tip: You will be happy in any of the rooms!

Thanks Alex and Grace for being such amazing hosts. We stayed two nights in the large balinese style villa which Alex constructed. Beautiful woodwork and detail. We got in at night and were completely amazed by the view when we woke up. These all wood balinese style villas are in a nice lush jungly setting. They have amazing views from atop of their hill and all amenities you would need.
Grace is a great host and amazing cook. She has her own experimental recipes made out of fresh local ingredients. Also gives great massages. Leaving directly from the house you can take hike through the forest nearby which lead to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim and relax.
This is even better than what we had envisioned before our a relaxing tropical beach vacation in Costa Rica. The only caveat is a tricky driveway for poor drivers. Surfing and beach activities are a ten to fifteen minute drive away.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main pavilion which was very nice

Thank you so much Alex and Grace for a great stay. The place is gorgeous, remote, romantic and with great potential for families as well. Super clean and cozy and with amazing views.
You can totally see the love the owners put in this place. Also we have hired chef services for dinner. Fresh Tuna was cooked for us right at our house. Homemade delicious, healthy, organic...
Thumbs UP all the way!

Can't wait to organize some Detox and Yoga retreats!

It's always with some trepidation when you share with others amazing places and finds for fear that if the whole world knows about it you'll never be able to access it again!! This has been how I feel about Manu Villas -- a definite paradise perched high in the rain forest overlooking the most beautiful Pacific sunsets -- that somehow I want to keep secret so it will always be there for us in the future. My partner and I stayed here for the 2nd time in two years, the first in Bosque and this most recent time for 11 days in Pavilion. And again we had one of the best holidays we've ever had with lots of time for both recreation and restorative rest!! This time we brought friends. Pavilion is well constructed with clean lines, wonderful use of stone and wood and windows everywhere with great vantages of the stunning views. There is a separate building with two large bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms and showers. And then there is the infinity pool, the perfect place to contemplate life, your morning cup of coffee or the evening sunset.

Alex and Grace are the consummate hosts, gracious, welcoming and charming -- and like others we highly recommend Grace's culinary skills!! Even their dogs get in on the act and periodically appear to ensure that you don't miss your own pooch at home too much!! Jose and his staff are friendly and meticulous in their attention to ensuring that you are comfortable, have clean towels, putting freshly cut flowers in the bathroom, and keeping the grounds groomed and the pool cleaned. Thank you.

We took advantage of the new road between Dominical and Quepos to spend more time in Manuel Antonio and Quepos this trip but decided we much prefer the more wild and rugged coast of Hatillo/Dominical and south -- and our favourite beaches Playa Guapil (minutes from the villa) and Playa Ventanas (further south near Ojochal). Playa Guapil is virtually free of people and extends as far as the eye can see in both directions, definitely worth a visit and a walk. Also take the time to drive to Ojochal and go to Citrus Restaurant, the food is amazing, fresh seafood, great drinks and desserts in a jungle setting along side a stream.

We will definitely go back and recommend without hesitation Manu Villas. Thanks Alex and Grace for creating this paradise!!

This both weeks in January were the most relaxing weeks I ever had. The owner are very nice and friendly people and the position of this estate is unique. The daily sunset was incredible - breathtaking! The whole estate is very clean even though it is situated in the jungle! I also would like to mention, that Grace is an exceptional cook - I remember the thuna with mustard and ginger - for me the culinary heaven on earth.
So thank´s a lot for this amazing unique two weeks in paradise!
