Very nice hotel. It was clean and comfortable, also nice and quiet. We had no complaints.
This was a nice place to stay with your family. Our teens loved hanging out at the pool. The rooms weren't the most spacious, but they were clean and the beds were quite comfy. I would stay at this place again.
There is a laundromat just down the street if you want to get all of your laundry done quickly. The historical town of Tombstone is nearby with many great restaurants to eat at. We highly recommend Nellie Cashman's restaurant!
We checked in around 2ish on May 1st. The boy at the desk couldn't tell us anything about the town or a good place to eat. He wasn't mean, but he was not friendly either.
The hot tub (spa) was not working the 3 nights we were there and they couldn't tell us when it would be fixed.
HBO was not working during our stay and they said they were working on the problem.
There are 2 stories and no elevators. And they don't tell you this when checking in.
They didn't have any eggs or chairs to sit on when we went down for breakfast. No fresh fruit, just over ripe bananas all 3 mornings.
The web site claimed you could walk into town. Yes along the highway with NO SIDEWALKS. Maybe they wanted to add more guests to the legendary "Boot Hill" cemetery.
The air conditioner worked well and my room was cleaned daily.
I think someone needs to rethink the 3 star rating.
Heres the most important bit for you - Turn up and ask at the desk and if they have a room it will cost you $109, if you have AAA membership you save $9- forget all that, walk into reception and log onto the computer in there, google the holiday inn website and book it for as low as $71 right there in the lobby - then send me the money you saved (just kidding)
it's hard to see why this is a Holiday inn express - for minimal effort it could be a holiday inn. Good enough breakfast, helpful staff and a seriously oversized car park ( we has a 30ft RV and no problems.
The hotel is a short walk from Boot Hill (yes it is a real place) and a short drive (5 minutes) from the historic Tombstone. Sat Nav does not find the hotel, don't worry it is on the main route into Tombstone (if you've been to Bisbee, the main route out).
If you need to eat in Tombstone, do it early, everywhere closes at 8, but we ate at the Depot and not only was the meal truly excellent, you get 10% off if you stay at the Holiday Inn. Monday nights - eat Pizza or diet, it seemed to be the only place open but again - good enough for the money and very good eating.
Nice pool, great hot tub and well worth the trip.
Whatever you do, pay the few dollars more to go into the Birdcage
and ask the nice lady to direct you to the film set used in "Tombstone" a free trip out and just a few miles from the interstate.
Loved this hotel, douby it we'll ever be back though - pity!
No elevator in this 3 story hotel. Loved this clean and comfy Hotel. Free deluxe continental breakfast. Coffee all day in lounge. Staff was so friendly I thought we where in a 5 star. booked two rooms, one for disabled parents, not realizing they had no elevator, we had no problem getting a 1st floor room for them. We checked out a day early, expecting to pay a fee, but the staff didn't charge us. Had some snow flurries, so make sure this time of year you are prepared for the cold as we were not, thus shortening our stay. Be sure to eat a large heavy meal before 5 pm because every thing closes at around 5-6pm. There where two resturants open until 9pm, but packed1 hour wait. a third resturant a steakhouse decide not to serve dinner that night but we could sit in the bar in celebration of St. Paddy's day. Many people walked away hungry. Thank goodness for Circle K close to the Hotel. The Best Western next to the Holiday inn boast of a resturant ,but was closed and not expecting to open anytime soon.
