My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, to see some Cubs spring training games in Mesa. We were drawn to it because of it's high TripAdvisor ratings, and the pictures looked great.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff was super friendly and organized. When we went to our assigned room, there was a pretty strong cigarette smell (the whole hotel is non-smoking) -- clearly, the person who stayed there previously had smoked in the bathroom. The smell in the room was obvious that they had tried to get rid of it, but being non-smokers, it was bothersome to us. I called down to the front desk and explained, and without hesitation they gave us a new room and were very appologetic.

The rooms are great -- updated, clean, classy. Each room has a separate sitting/office area, and bed area. The linnens were nice, not those traditional stiff, floral blankets at most hotels. And my husband's favorite part? 42 inch HD plasma screen TV mounted on the wall.

The hotel is just across the parking lot from the Arizona Mills Mall, which has a few restaurants in it, as well as a Claim Jumper, a 5 & Diner, a Joe's Crab Shack, and a pharmacy (which we used for our last minute sunblock and beverage needs).

We were EXTREMELY happy with our stay.

My wife and I traveled to Phoenix in March 2008 and had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Tempe. For a great price, we had a wonderful room that you wouldn't expect from a HI Exp.

The room had the following:
- Great bed with firm and soft pillows
- 42" LG HDTV
- Convenient microwave and refrigerator
- Free WI-FI

The service is what you would expect and this is a great hotel to stay for those looking to avoid overpriced hotels. It's close to the Arizona Mills outlet mall and a great Claim Jumper restaurant across the parking lot. I would highly recommend this place for both business travelers and families.

I typically stay at HI Express for business travel so I've seen a lot of these properties. This is a nicely done hotel with flat screen TVs and roomy mini-suites.

The premises is clean, the pool/spa area looks brand new and the gym is small but clean and new.

I stayed at this hotel for one night on July 29th on a visit for work.
The photos on the hotel website attracted me to this hotel as they room looked very nice and the photos on the hotel website are a true example of how nice this place is.

The room was spacious, with a separate sitting area, a nice work desk, and a bar area with sink and fridge. The king size bed had very nice linens and bed spread with nice pillows. The bathroom vanity wasa large with good lighting and large mirror. The bathroom was very nice with a very large full length mirror on the door. The best part of the room for me was the very large flat panel tv monunted on the wall. I was not expecting a nice LG Flat panel monitor at a holiday inn!

The pool was closed the day I was there as they were waiting for some inspector to check the chemical levels before reopening it.

The business center in the main lobby was quite nice - two computers with flat panel monitors - and a large high speed color printer - I've been at a few hotels with super cheap printers - this one was heavy duty and high speed.

due to the fact I had to leave very early in the morning - around 4:30 a.m. I don't have any info on the breakfast served - however the lobby area is very nicely decorated and it has TWO very large flat panel tv's in the lobby area.

The hotel parking lot was full by night-time and the hotel was very quiet. My one complaint about this property is that the a/c unit in the room - which is right next ot the bed is a little too loud with the fan noise - which isn't that unusual for hotel rooms - but I needed to turn it off at night to sleep after letting the room cool down nicely first.
