“Service and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2007

Was here for a conference in July and this hotel was great. The service was top notch, from the helpful staff in the business center to the security manager who personally knocked at my door to say I'd left my rental car lights on and then offered to go turn them off for me (it was pouring rain at the time, at night!) The setting is pretty with palm trees and sw stule---close to the hub of Mill Av. and mear ASU, airport close (but not all that airport noisy), a great pool, good sized rooms and decent wi fi access. Easy parking---included! THAT is a rarity these days! All in all, a nice spot and a pleasure to stay.

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel, and both times it was great. The rooms are clean. The staff is very attentive and the location is perfect for visiting ASU and Mill Ave. We will be staying there again.

I stayed for three nights. The stay was wonderful. The room, bed, and bath were all fine. There were no problems. I like the location. The people were very helpful. No problems at all.

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel , and again, not a good experience. I specifically asked for a room in a quiet location but was given a room around the corner from a bar across the street. I was unable to sleep or even watch tv due to the excessive noise from the obnoxious bar patrons -- the foul language was unbelievable-- this is not a family friendly hotel as the surrounding neighborhood is very noisy at night (lots of drunken people, DJs blasting music till 2am).

You're better off staying at the Fairmont Princess Resort. It has some class and you can sleep in peace and quiet.

  • Liked — not far from airport, free shuttle
  • Disliked — hotel is located in a VERY noisy surrounding neighborhood

If you're visiting ASU you can't beat this hotel for location; steps from the main drag with shops and restaurants and right in the middle of campus. If you're not visiting ASU then there are tons of other great choices in the Phoenix area that are further from town.
The staff was wonderful.
The lobby and courtyard are very pleasant.
Rooms are nice, clean, and have comfortable beds. They have doors that open up into the courtyard so you can get some fresh air.
Free airport shuttle. Free parking.
The pool is small. On Monday there were plenty of chairs but on Sunday there were no chairs and it was very crowded.

  • Liked — location close to ASU
  • Disliked — pool was crowded

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2007

I must admit that after reading the reviews, I was really nervous to stay here, but am now so glad that we did! We chose Tempe Mission Palms because of the convenience of it's location to the Rock and Roll Marathon. I contacted the hotel in October for a room in January. They were full, but very nice in their offer to put me on a wait list. Sure enough, a few days before our departure, they called to tell me that a room was available. During the course of the weekend, I talked extensively with the front desk, the concierge, the restaurant and the valet staff - every single one of them was friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had the information I needed.
Our room was nicely furnished, clean and quiet - even though it was located right next to both the elevator and the ice machine.
One big bonus for me was that the shower was great! It was plenty tall and had great water pressure. Nothing bugs me more than a shower head I have to duck under.
The bed was confortable and there were plenty of pillows.
I did not use the pool or gym, but they looked very nice.
Honestly, I can't think of a single bad thing to say - the location is excellent - there are shops and restaurants right out the door.
I would highly recommend this hotel!

With the exception of the valets and Bill in guest services, the "service" at this hotel is a joke... the bartender acted like he was doing us a favor when we walked into an empty bar. our large party took our bar buisness elsewhere.

I won't even go into how badly they botched our reservations for our entire group. AND on the morning of our departure, no one in our group got their requested wake up calls.

We wer there for a basketball tournament and tthey had the pool closed with 20 +/- teams there.

The location is great, the grounds are lovely. The rooms are clean but small, they are nicely furnished. our double beds were past their prime.

We were there the same time last year and i would have given this property 4 or 5 stars based on that stay- what a difference a year makes. This could be a great hotel- maybe a new manager? Some of the staff need to be trained as to how guests should be treated.

If you stay here don't miss the Cafe Boa on 4th and Mill - what a great find.
