Because the hotel is being renovated, some of the amenities are not able to be used (e.g. breakfast, and swim pool). Breakfast vouchers were provided to the Waffle House which was in front of the hotel. Do to this renovation condition, the General Manager, Carl, and his staff made our stay here as comfortable as possible. A refrigrator and micro wave was provided when only suggested it would be nice to have in the room. The room was provided on the non renovated section of the hotel and away from the noise of the renovation activity and was not a problem. Would recommend to family and friends for the price and room.

Room Tip: The portion of the hotel being renovated is further away (West side) from the Freeway (US 10) and...

This is a first review for me...but I'm an advocate for awareness:

I recently booked a hotel stay at this Ramada at AZ Mills and was shocked at the condition of the property. It is under major reconstruction, hanging plastic sheets/ scaffolding throughout, could barely find the office, big dirt ditches along walkways, safety concerns, exposed 2X4s propped against trees, dirty walkways, carpets filthy black in door entries, all adding to the already sketchy surroundings (shared property entry with strip club).

The Ramada website indicated nothing about this renovation/ construction, and I felt very deceived, frustrated and angry at check in, as I booked in advance online for my folks visiting from out of town. They did not feel safe to stay there, and I wouldn't have slept easy knowing they would be staying there for the night. We are easy going, seasoned travelers that do not have high expectations...but this was not acceptable. My father asked with disbelief " This is a Wyndham?" My mother had to be prodded out of the vehicle to preview the room! :(

The management staff was kind, tried to be as helpful as they could given the circumstances, cancelled our reservation per our request, and noted our concerns, saying he'd pass our suggestions on to his manager. He said there had been similar comments from other customers. Construction began in May 2012, and is anticipated to be complete in Nov-Dec, per manager. FYI- Pool and hot tub closed down as well for reconstruction.

Is there a way to ensure that this property publishes their reconstruction status online to prevent this type of horrible surprise and inconvenience to customers?? It derailed our visit over 2 hrs, my parents were already exhausted from their travels, and we had to seek out and opt to stay at a different hotel chain that was a decent alternative in the area (at highest walk in rate, due to no prior reservation).

We expect more from Wyndham/ Ramada and feel that customers deserve to know when the promised product is compromised. This was a very disappointing and discouraging experience from a customer's perspective. There are other hotels close in the area (even next door!) that feel safer, are more comfortable, and are in the same price range. Why compromise?....

So after checking in, we went over to the mall and watched a movie. When we got back our keys weren't working so we went to the front desk. The man at the front desk seemed confused when we told him our room number and said he had us in a different room. Then he said, "oh yeah, we checked another guest into your room and they came back saying there were suitcases and stuff in their room already". Are you kidding me? In the days of electronic booking systems and key cards, how in the world do you check a guest into an occupied room? Thank GOD all of my valuables were still in place and that the people who were given open access to our room were honest folks. The front desk person seemed more interested in explaining his mistake than he did with getting me into my room asap so I could check on my stuff. Bottom line, I don't care what happened, that's just unacceptable under any circumstances.

Shower/tub needs to be replaced even though it has had 2 repair jobs to fill in holes.
Bed--ok,, not very comfortable.
Breakfast at Waffle House ok, not much variety.
Best thing about it was the low price and proximity to family.
Air conditioner kept the room cool, but it was very noisy.
Room had a lingering odor, even though we asked for a non-smoking room.

The morning I checked out the desk claimed there was a printer problem, hence they said they would email me one, after 4 days later and 3 separate calls still no receipt and my email address was correct. Poor customer service.

Visitors to Metro Phoenix and the Valley of Sun choose the Ramada Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall for a number of reasons. Our hotel has great access to both Interstate 10 and US Highway 60 - The Superstition Freeway, so travel around the Valley is a breeze. Downtown Phoenix, US Airways Center - the stomping grounds of the Phoenix Suns, Chase Field - Home Park of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Symphony Hall, Herberger Theatre, and Phoenix Civic Plaza are just 9 miles away and easy access to Interstate 10 makes it an easy drive. The Galleries and Art Walks of Scottsdale, the West's Most Western Town, are just 11 miles away, and the shops and restaurants of Chandler - sometimes called the New Scottsdale - begin at Ray Road and Interstate 10, and are just 4 miles south of the Ramada. The University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the NFL Arizona Cardinals and Glendale Arena, home of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes, are 25 miles away, but the quick drive on Interstate 10 make them seem much closer. ... more   less
