“Nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2011

I like this hotel just fine, kind of like all the other ones in the Sky Harbor Airport area. This one is a cut above the others. A few years ago an addition was built onto the west end of the hotel. All six floors were extended. Those rooms are REALLY nice, but slightly more expen$ive. I really like the rooms with two queen beds better than the ones with one king. They're probably the same size, but the two-queen ones feel bigger. One big downside: internet speed is lousy. And I was using the wired connection, not wifi. Still, given the choice, I would pick this hotel over the other ones in the same price range and area.

Room Tip: Don't pull the sheer curtains across the windows if you want the A/C unit to work right! Use th...

This is the second time I have stayed here with my team for work. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. But...the rooms need some love. I had a king bedroom again this stay and there is no closet, rather a 3-4foot hanging rack in the bedroom...kind of depressing to have to stare at your bag and hanging clothes for a multi-day stay. The bathroom sink is well lit, but the separate toilet shower is very dark, the grout is stained and the enclosure needs to be updated. The bed was very soft/spongy - perhaps that will appeal to some, but I prefer a more firm mattress. There is a Hyatt Place next door, and I really like their room layouts. Trpadvisor has it ranked #4 in the area while this property is 26 out of 47. It may be worth a look for those of you looking to stay near the airport and close to downtown Tempe.

We booked the hotel room the day before. It was our last day in the US after a 20 days trip in the 4 corners region.
Very helpful staff, they changed the room right away because it smelled of smoke.
Very quiet and clean room, good complimentary breakfast.
We spent a relaxing night before coming back to Europe.

Nice, decent hotel but a great value if you have the travel coupon for $52. They honored it with no hesitation. Near runway but you don't hear anything in the rooms. It was 115 when we were there and pool felt like a bath. Really good Mexican food restaurant (local) neary.

Arrived and they didn't have the room type I reserved available. The room they put me in was supposed to be an upgrade but had a very strange layout with the TV neither in front of the bed, nor in the sitting room. The next room had a very strong odor of either paint or new carpet, and drywall and spots on the carpet, stains on the couch. I left and came to another hotel that was half as much and twice as nice.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

This is the best moderately priced hotel in the Tempe / Sky Harbor Airport area. Others in the area are uniformly ordinary and average. This one is above the rest.

Rooms are spacious, clean, well-equipped, nicely furnished, bright, and cheery. The workout room is well equipped for a hotel of this type. The people are friendly and helpful. Rooms have a sitting area with a small sleep sofa, desk, chair, television, mini-fridge, sink, and microwave. The sleeping area has either 2 queens or a king and another TV. The bathroom is roomy.

You may read in other reviews about jet noise. The hotel is right under the takeoff/landing pattern for Sky Harbor. I can hear the airplanes when I'm in the parking lot, but I have yet to be bothered by noise while indoors at this hotel.

I would gladly give this hotel 5 stars except for two things: (1) Internet, even via a cat5 cable, is sloooooowwwww. Very slow. (2) The AC in my room this time did not work quite as well as I would like. It was fine at night, but during the day it just could not keep up with the 105-degree temps outdoors. I reported it, and it was worked that very day, but it really didn't help.

Room Tip: South side, 2nd or 3rd floor
