The indoor pool was hot tub temperature and the room itself was so hot that they had the windows open to the 106 degree outdoor temperature to try to cool it down!! In spite of the heat, my wife and daughter elected to swim for a short time to let my little girl burn off some energy accumulated during the long drive. When they returned to the room, we received a phone call. The caller asked my wife if she was the lady who had been swimming in the hotel pool, when she said, "yes", the caller asked if she wanted a "boyfriend". Creepy to say the least. The lobby and upstairs vestibule outside our room was constantly filled with what seemed to be the members of a traveling baseball team of some sort. They were loud, unruly, intimidating and obviously had been drinking. I realize that the behavior of guests isn't entirely in the control of the hotel management, but the one poor young woman working the front desk couldn't begin to control this mob. I reported our obscene caller and she basically said there was nothing she could do.
IMO, the hotel has the responsibility to provide its employees with recourse for dealing with unruly guests and the hotel certainly owns responsibility for maintaining an advertised amenity (I wouldn't have selected this hotel without a pool available) in a comfortably usable condition. They also bear some responsibility for the safety of their guests and I've never felt so unsafe in a hotel in 40+ years of traveling.
