“Stay some place else”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

We travel extensively. This place ranks at the bottom based on staff services, worn facility and smelly, smoky, understaffed and poor attitudes. Desk staff were completely incompetent and would rather argue than fix the problem. Our cousins tried to get room into their room for 4 days and failed. They also could not get there room made up because they displayed the do not disturb sign at 8 AM. We changed rooms with our daughter and husband and told the front desk at least twice each day for 4 days. Every day we had to get new keys because they could not find a way to change the computer. When another cousin lost money in the drink dispenser and he asked if there was another machine in the building (there were at least 4) the desk person responded, "How should I know?" The facility is poorly maintained and unsafely so. We had a badly broken lamp in our room and exposed wires near the bed. The hotel has no manager and the desk refused to tell us who to contact with a complaint. Stay away.

Room Tip: Go any place else.

where do I start. very clean and very efficient. check in crew was friendly and quick.
rooms very clean and spacious. beds were firm and pillows were good. not all places
can say that. the three kids loved the pool. we were dealing with a temp difference. at home it was -25 and in surprise it was +25. fifty degrees is 50 degrees. we did not want to go home.
location. we went to spend new years eve in warm climes. we had tickets to the wild wing bowl,
30 minutes away. we had tickets to the oilers coyote hockey game. 10 minutes away.
went to the queen creek olive plant in queen creek. over one hour away but worth the trip.
we will be back. simply the best. close to freeway. did not hear anything. well done

From the 75-cent-a-load, clean and attractive guest laundry to the immaculate parking areas to the spotless propane BBQ to the numerous in-suite mirrors ... and more! This is one of the cleanest, best-managed properties we've ever encountered world-wide. Marilyn and Breanna are indeed the "queens of client services" - they listen and follow-up on guest suggestions and are always available for advice, day or night.

The "included" breakfast is comprehensive and plentiful ... waffles, bacon, beef patties, scrambled eggs, yogurt, bread products, cereals and oatmeal. One suggestion ... perhaps some berry fruit or cut melons would be useful to augment the apples, oranges and bananas which are not the best breakfast fruit (IMHO).

The suites are spacious and exactly as advertised. The beds are exra-ordinarily comfortable and the rooms are quiet even though the freeway is really closeby. Perhaps the extensive lawns and pond muffle the traffic? The paintwork is fresh, the sitting area is comfortable and cupboard storage is great for a week-long stay. No, the TVs are NOT flat screens but they are scheduled to be replaced in 2014.

Maintenance in the property is ongoing. We were there during a slow period and the staff was always polishing the "brightwork", steaming the rugs or scouring the breakfast room. The ambiance is classic rather than contemporary - a refreshing change from the chains. The courtyard breakfast area features large, warm-colored tiles which are polished to a brilliant finish.

The Windmill Suites are close to a wide selection of restaurants along Bell Road and only 15 minutes from the Arrowhead Town Centre - maybe the best indoor shopping mall in Phoenix. We found the room rate to be very reasonable and would return - no question - if we ever return to the Phoenix area.

I am writing this while seated at the desk in my room at Windmill Inn and Suites. My wife and I came out from Atlanta for the difficult task of settling her uncle's estate and scattering his ashes. We knew we would be in the area for close to a week so we wanted somewhere that could be an "oasis" from the daily stresses of this arduous task. We looked on line at several places; some were way too expensive and others had frightening reviews. Trust me, we've stayed in some of those and we did not want to risk it so we relied on Trip Advisor. We walked in to a very clean and tidy lobby where we were met by a young man with an excellent command of the English language. Once checked in, he asked if we would like a wake up delivery of the local paper, coffee, juice and muffins. Wait...what, are they serious?!?!? They were, all we had to tell them was what time and what we would like. Coffee, juice, muffins AND the local paper! The true definition of customer service is to go beyond the customer's expectation of good service. Windmill Inn and Suites did this by light years and that was just during the check-in process. We discovered while going to our room a very clean and bright entry that only allows those with a key to come in, aka good security. We also found the halls to be well lit and exceptionally clean. Even the elevator looked and smelled like it had just been surgically scrubbed. When we entered our room, we quickly found it to be very spacious and again clean with a kitchenette, a separate bedroom and a large bathroom. The management and staff are not only professional but polite and helpful. There is no wonder why they have Trip Advisor awards for both 2012 and 2013. If I have anything to do with it, they will surely get 2014 as well. Most assuredly, any time I have to come back to this area, I will be staying here!

Room Tip: Just a quick heads up, they are located a block off the "main drag" of W. Bell Rd so you h...

We stayed at the Windmill for six nights over the 2013 Thanksgiving holiday after having been guests in November 2012. We again had an excellent experience, but the property has a new owner and there were some changes which, although minor, were not positive. No more complimentary Wall Street Journal, just the local newspapers; no more rewards program for frequent guests; and a shortage of housekeeping staff for the day or two when the motel was full..
