“45 minutes from Gilbert/Mesa Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

A beautifully laid out sanctuary. Plants, trails, helpful volunteer's make this place a real treat to visit. Whether you spend a few hours or the entire day, you won't be disappointed. Where good shoes, dress comfortably, bring a light jacket, water and your camera. Make sure you stop into the gift shop before leaving. There are coupons for local area restaurants with discounts for breakfast and lunch.

“Part of a day or come back over and over.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

A delightful collection of desert plants from Arizona and around the world. Many interesting programs are offered from Plants of the Bible walks to night photography workshops. This is a must see on a trip to Arizona and if you live near the Arboretum a membership (allowing continual access and special events) is a must.

“Plan on spending a whole day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

The Thompson Arboretum covers a huge area and all of it is worth seeing. It's a great mix of natural southwest landscape and cultivated gardens. We were woefully under-prepared for our visit lacking sunscreen, proper hiking shoes, and hats. Plus we had the baby stroller with us, so there was no chance we could do the whole walking trail as a portion of it is quite steep and narrow. Next time we're visiting the in-laws, we'll try this park again.

“Desert splendor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We went in the spring before it was too hot. They have a wonderful area of medicinal and herbal plants and their uses. Very nicely laid out and informative. Beautiful area just to walk around in. Something different around every corner. Probably most interesting to tourists and those not already aquatinted with the desert, but even desert rats should visit it. I learned some names of familiar plants. It was an enjoyable outing.
