I had the misfortune to stay at this property for a week while on military TDY. The room was run down, the A/C unit was so noisy it woke us up every time it clicked on with a grinding screeching sound. The room had live and dead bugs throught, It was not vacuumed around the corners or near the night table, and the towels had an offensive odor. I walked in on the cleaning staff one day and it suspiciously looked like the lady was closing my suitcase as I walked in. I had stayed prior to this next door at the Comfort Suites and had a much better experience. Next time I will go back to the Comfort.

I chose this hotel based on the reviews on this site, and wish I hadn't listened to them. First of all, we had a non-smoking room, but there was a definite smoke smell in our room and our sheets smelled like smoke too. Come to find out, the chain smoker staying next door to us would smoke right outside her/our door and since there is at least a quarter inch gap between the door and the door frame, the smoke came right in. Right downstairs from us were two beat up looking camp chairs on the sidewalk, where another pair of smokers would sit. The chairs never moved the 3 days we were there -- it seems like the hotel wouldn't allow that. Perhaps the most "eew" part of the stay were the two bleached and stained washcloths hanging near the sink, with a note to the ladies to please use those rather than the "nice" towels to wipe your face after washing it, so that your makeup won't stain the white towels. They looked so disgusting there was no way those were coming near my face! Here's a clue...bleach your white towels to get the makeup out! Wish I'd stayed at the much nicer looking Comfort Inn next door!

“Best West OK, prefer Fairfield Inn”

We visit Sierra Vista quite frequently and in recent visits have stayed at the Fairfield Inn. Unfortunately, it was all booked up, so we ended up giving the Best Western a shot after reading some reviews. Overall, the stay was pleasant, rooms were clean and the pool was fine. It is located on Fry Blvd (a main street), so access to restaurants is a plus. Kind of an average stay. We prefer the Fairfield simply because it is newer, the service is friendly and the location is convenient.

“A Good Choice”

Best Western Mission Inn

My wife and I are birders--we travel nationwide in quest of new (and not so new) birds to see. Sierra Vista proudly proclaims itself to be the hummingbird capital of America and, with more than 15 varieties of these wonderful little birds available within a few miles from the heart of the city, especially in late summer, the chamber of commerce's claim is probably right on the money. When I set out to make reservations recently, however, based in large part on other reviews here on TripAdvisor, the Mission Inn did not seem to rise to the top of any list. We had had several less-than-satisfactory experiences at other Best Western motels and only the fact that most of the other places we selected were booked for one or more of the days we wanted to stay, finally convinced us to give it a try. A week later, we were glad the other places were all taken! Located close to nearly everything--restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, Fort Huachuca, and of course, the ever-present natural setting that surrounds the town, the Mission Inn more than met our expectations--and then some. A family-run operation, everyone from the managers to the desk clerks were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Though the motel was fairly full all of the nights were were there, our room was quiet and accommodating. Though we do not happen to be swimmers, there was a nice and inviting full-sized pool which others seemed to be enjoying. The complimentary breakfast could, to be sure, use a little tweeking--it consisted of mostly cold (and far too sweet) breakfast items along with coffee or hot tea--but without question even it was filling and certainly not unpleasant. There seemed to be a widely diverse group of people staying at the Mission Inn while we were there--soldiers from the base, professionals, bikers, families with small children, and even a handful of retirees like us. It is easy to recommend this motel. Its prices were competitive for the touristy area that Sierra Vista has become and, all in all, well worth the price. I suspect that we'll be back again in other years and we would never hesitate to return to it once again.

Overall, our stay at this Best Western was pretty good. Most important: The beds were comfortable!!! Our room had a very nice air-conditioner that kept the room at a consistent temperature so I didn't have to keep adjusting it. All the rooms have refrigerators and microwaves, which is a definite bonus. Our room was good-sized on the ground floor with a big window and neutral tones except for the bathroom which was mostly turquoise. There were little notes and signs everywhere like, "Please hold down the handle for at least three seconds when flushing" and "Please use the green towels instead of our good towels for things that might stain." One wonderful feature of this hotel was that they have a small coin laundry for guest use (although the dryer was broken during my stay). The pool was sparkling clean and beautiful in front of a backdrop of gorgeous Arizona mountains and native plants in undeveloped land alongside the hotel. Because there was no courtyard area where we could sit outside and stretch our legs, other than the pool, I felt a tiny bit penned in. At the complimentary breakfast there were powdered and plain doughnuts, bagels, microwaveable french toast, and other breads and cereals. Some of the staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful, others were fairly competent, and one seemed to be in pain. Overall the experience wasn't bad, and we are booked to stay there again.
