“An "F" as in First Rate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

I would give The Hibiscus Coffee and Guesthouse an "F", but not as in failing. Rather as in "fine", "funky", "fashionable", "flowery" and "fun". And don't forget the "food"..."fine" food served in a charming café. Hibiscus is a gem located near the beautiful dunes of Grayton State Park, described as the "crown jewel" of the Florida State Park system.

We stayed 2 nights here at this delightful b and b. The staff were incredibly friendly and offered good advice about the local area. The room was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. We stayed in the Hibiscus Room which was lovely, the amenities were good, i.e. fridge, microwave, hairdryer etc. The cafe is directly below and can get a little noisy early in the morning but on the whole we really had a lovely time and would definitely return here.

My wife and I decided to stay a few nights in Grayton Beach, FL on a vacation of the panhandle and we're so glad we stay at the Hibiscus. We stayed in the Art Deco Room and it was great. It had a large screened in porch with its own swing and private entrance into the room. The room is very comfortable and nice sized, the only thing I'd change is the bathroom door isn't solid but a louvered door, so minimal privacy.
The room was right next door to the onsite coffee house which has really good food and lots of character, and they're very friendly. The grounds to the place are well kept and it's nice and quiet with only a short walk or drive to the small town and beach. I recommend staying here on a visit to Grayton Beach.
By the way, we visited the Grayton Beach public beach and also the national park beach nearby, and they were both really nice. The national park is setup as a beautiful clean natural beach; just make sure you bring your own umbrellas, chair rentals, lunch, etc since there are no rentals onsite.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Art Deco Room and it was great. It had a large screened in porch with its own swin...

Hi there!!
Thank you very much for taking the time to write us a review! We love guest feedback.
I am so happy to hear you enjoyed, not only our establishment, but our area as well.
Those doors are super "Old Florida" so I can understand....
Come back and see us. (We do have several choices with a more modern feel if you're interested)

My girlfriend and I stayed here on December 20, 2013 (Friday night). We stayed in the Turner Room. Wow what a great deal and place! The staff was curteous and kind and helped us with any questions we had. The place is right in the middle of Greyton beach (close to Red Bar for a good meal), and only a short bike ride to seaside (2 miles). The place was clean and it was by far the cheapest place in the area. You really cannot beat the value and amenities. The breakfast in the morning was amazing and an added bonus. The room was clean and well maintained. Perfect for couples (even those on the pickier side) and great for young professionals looking to stay in a romantic place for a great price. Next time I (and my girlfriend) are in seaside we will be staying at the hibiscus inn.

We were looking for a place to stay for the Thanksgiving week. Just happened to see this bed and breakfast online. We needed 4 nights and only 3 nights were available for the room we requested. We received a room upgrade for all 4 nights at the same price as the other room. Room was very clean, people were very friendly, and the breakfast was outstanding. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Tropical Bird room, and it had its own kitchen to share with the Romance room. It w...

My husband and I stayed at the Hibiscus Guesthouse during the off-season, Nov. 2013. It was quiet and charming. Breakfast was delicious. We were in the Magnolia Room in the building above the café and our only complaint is that if you want to sleep in, you may want to ask for one of the other 2 buildings as the café began to get busy early in the morning.

Room Tip: The rooms in the first building (over the café) tend to get noisy early in the morning as they prepa...

Hi...
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review for us. :)
We LOVE Guest feedback. It's so true, if you are a light sleeper or like to sleep in Bert's Barn is certainly a better option. Our cafe opens pretty early for guests and the public. The sounds and smells are undeniable.
Can't wait to have you back!

My husband and I spent 2 very pleasant nights at the Hibiscus Coffee and Guesthouse back in early October. On our way there the weather wasn't good, so we more or less had the place to ourselves the first night, which was a Tuesday. We stayed in The Funky Bird room which was spacious and nostalgic as it reminded me of my grandmother's house in the 50s. The front of the old house had a wonderful front porch facing Defuniak Street where we enjoyed our coffee and watched people walking and biking by. Even thought it faced the street, we had plenty of privacy. The price of the room includes breakfast in the cafe which was also a treat. The grounds provided a romantic ambiance as well. Down the street (about a 10 minute walk) was the Red Bar and Shorty' Surfside and Topside and some cute shops. At the end of the street is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of beaches. We would definitely stay at the Hibiscus again and would recommend it to anyone who would chose laid back, cozy, charming and nostalgic over fancy, expensive and pretentious.
