“What a wonderful experience”

Took my parents who are 81, to the Grand Canyon. Started in Las Vegas went to Hoover Dam and went through Seligman to Grand Canyon. Stayed at the Canyon Lodge. Loved the town, loved the hotel. It is old but clean. I loved the home like atmosphere. Bedspreads were like you would have at home. Route 66 theme in both rooms. Small clean bathroom (not handicap accessible). Folks running the motel were very nice. Recommendation for breakfast was at LiLo's. Good Food. The whole atmosphere of this town was like stepping back in time to the 50/60's. The price was very reasonable and not many choices in this small town. If you want luxury, this is not it. If you want to stay somewhere different, clean, and visit a nice small town, can't recommend it enough. This town has several unique small shops which are fun to browse in and pick up some different souvenirs. We loved it. Ginger/Bill/Mom and Dad

I called Canyon Lodge and booked a room after reading reviews. The motel is ...well...a motel, but the owners have made each room into a theme and the efforts truly show. We had a large second floor room - the Vegas room? Big room with microwave, fridge and flat screen TV - the TV was with digital TV and a billion channels - which came in hand as there isn't anything in Seligman to do at night once the ice cream stand closes down at 9 pm!

The bathroom is refurbished 1950s but clean. The building is build of concrete blocks (I think!) so not so much noise by the neighbors (see below) - window air conditioner was a bit loud.

Now to neighbors, which the owners had nothing to do about! The loud A/C came in handy as about 4 cars of 20-somethings arrived around 9 PM and apparently walked to the bar down the street. Came in at 1 AM, puking, screaming and then had a party. By 3 AM we were about to wake up the owners or leave. Threw on the A/C for noise and it appeared they passed out. Then 5 AM we are woken again - they are filling their vehicles and leaving. So no sleep, but not to the fault of the owners or property.

Maybe the low cost of the hotel attracts those who...like to party?

They do offer coffee and packaged cupcake-type foods, but we went down the street to a diner and had a FABULOUS breakfast. As we ate, 6 tour busses, YES, SIX, pulled up and mobbed the three other businesses in town - Route 66 souvenir shops. Never saw anything like it - seemed to be a tour bus group from nearby Laughlin.

This was a great stop on Route 66 on our way into Nevada.
After eating at Route 66 Grill in Williams, we wished, though, we'd stayed in Williams for more to do.

Stayed here for one night on our Route 66 trip. Cheapest room on the journey at $58. Good location on main street through Seligman and Route 66. We had room on top floor. Large comfortable bed, clean sheets but top quilt could do with a wash. Room was a dark railway themed room which consisted of photos of trains on the wall. The bathroom was a wooden box partition in the corner of the room which was not the most appealing, well used shower, sink, towels etc. Owners were friendly. Breakfast was a serve yourself in a tiny kitchenette behind the reception. Plastic bowls and cups but considering it was part of the price..... Free wifi.
The Copper Cart was recommended to eat in but the staff there were not particularly friendly.
This motel more suited to those on a budget or hunters.

Don't be put off by some reviews, this is historic route 66, not Las Vegas baby!! Step back in time to historic route 66 with a friendly welcome, fantastic themed rooms & a better morning parade than Disney!. Canyon lodge is clean & comfortable with fridge micro, 200 channel tv and free internet. The beds were so comfy that we all had a great nights sleep. We stayed with our girls of 14 & 7 and we were all made very welcome. Great coffee at SELIGMAN SUNDRIES & food at LILO's. Seligman is great and so friendly, wished we stayed longer but will be back. Thanks to Chuck & Joy and Frank & Lynne for the coffee and ice creams. You have to see the other themed rooms..

We stopped off in Seligman for a night to break our journey to the Grand Canyon, after flying into Vegas and driving straight on out.
The Canyon Lodge is a basic choice, make no mistake. But the owners are charming, the place is clean and it has free wi-fi and an amazing selection of channels.
With reference to the previous review - no, it's not the most comfortable bed and no, it's not Egyptian cotton linens. But it IS comfortable and clean. And for $60, I think you could do an awful lot worse. I've only marked it down due to the loudest air con unit ever. But then, I've had noisy air con units in much posher hotels than this. Canyon Lodge should be assessed in its class, and as a "stopover motel" I think it's excellent.

Highly recommend Westside Lilo's down the road for food - we had dinner there and were so impressed that we went back for breakfast the next day (the free breakfast at the motel isn't great!).

I stayed here during a recent trip across Arizone and New Mexico on Route 66. Always wanted to spend some time in Seligman, as it has very deep Route 66 roots. Picked the Canyon Lodge more or less at random.

First, I read the reviews before picking a hotel in town. Have to say that several of the reviews for hotels in Seligman, the Canyon Lodge included, looked as if they were composed for self promotion. I never read in Trip Advisor where casual travelers called a motel/hotel a 'property'. That, and other comments reek of insider reviews, and should be discounted.

That said, the Canyon Lodge is a very, very basic and average place. The room we had and the others in our party were fairly small, rather old and a bit worn. Clean, yes, but nothing to write home about. The beds were smallish full sized instead of queen and the bedding had that ultra Kmart special feel to it. My bed was kind of hard, and my pillows real small.

The room had a nice tv with a large selection of sat tv channels to choose from, as you'd expect in this out of the way location. The washroom was small, and is what I gather the usual low flow water in this part of the country shower. It was clean, but had seen better days.

Seligman is a very small town, and today is pretty much tied to Route 66 tourist traffic. As such there are several Route 66 related businesses, such as the Snow Cap, Copper Kettle and such who trace their roots back to the old days. Angel's is an old time barbershop and curios store with a lot of Route 66 things.

Canyon Lodge is ok, I guess. You shouldn't expect much here, other than average. Being that your probably going to Seligman due to Route 66, you'll more than likely think the place is what you'd expect. It isn't, and far from, a top notch super duper 'property' as noted in some reviews. It's more like a place you stay for a night, forget about, and move on.

We spent 2 nights in Seligman as our stop to spend a day at the Grand Canyon. Its 1hr 40 drive so was no problem to be in the park by 9.15am. We really liked this motel and Seligman is a great Route 66 stop. We read the tripadvisor reviews before we booked and found them really useful and agree completely that Chuck & Joy offer a wonderful friendly and helpful service. We stayed in 8 different hotels during our trip in USA and Canyon Lodge had the most comfortable beds by far. We stayed in the Marilyn Monroe room and were particularly pleased as we hadnt expected an extra equally comfortable bed so the 2 children didn't have to share. The room also had a 200 channel flat screen TV, fridge, microwave and coffee and breakfast was also included. We had a problem with our hire car and Chuck could not have been more helpful with phone calls etc while we sorted it out. Yes, the shower is a bit tired and the air con a bit noisy but this place had so much charm and character and was comfortable beyond expectation. We loved it.
